Konate apparently been offered a new deal. Some rumours as he’s front and centre of a lot of media stuff out in Hong Kong that think things looking positive.

I guess this is it now, offer made, this will determine if we need a back up CB for the season (Cresswell) or if we need a new starter (Guehi)

We absolutely have to keep him.

He's one of the best cbs in the world.

That over 200mil net now before add ons come into it.

Obviously theres payments over time taking thst back a bit but still.

Just the 120 odd mil to recoup then.

Jota, bless his soul, would have been insured. He would have been valued at c.£50 imo so although not a transfer, we would have the money as though it was a transfer. So the net figure is lower then?

Plus, I don’t see a world we we lose Diaz, Nunez, Chiesa and poor Jota and only buy one forward in <yikes>

Diaz > Rodrygo
Nunez > Isak <whistle>

then sign up Konate and one CB for the future and our window will slam shut.

Wouldn't go that far. Think been spoken about a lot that his deficiencies are probably covered a lot by playing next to vvd who makes every cb look better. When Gomes had that season next to vvd he looked world beater as well.

Was some stuff done last year that saliba was getting some incredible praise but when Gabriel was out he didn’t look at good as he didn’t have that organiser next to him.

No doubt he’s a very good defender but he has his brain fart moments. But speed and physicality and ability in the air not many that can compete. Just a bit flat footed at times when turning and done in behind

Seems isak hasn't travelled to the pre season tour for Newcastle. Has he downed tools or is there something else at play.
It's going to be the saga of the transfer window isn't it - "Managing his minutes .... minor injury ....."

At least we're not hanging onto the situation like the Bellingham saga, for example. I think the general feeling among Liverpool fans, from what I've read, is - a great addition if it happens but not fussed if it doesn't.

Yes. He is a big horse.

He isn't an organiser as proven by the debacle games at the end where vvd was rested.

Hes had to do the work of two covering for benedict Arnold for 2 years so has done well and when fit is really good.

Also under rated on his passing which was improved.

Anyone standing next to van dijk looks ordinary tbh. Konate needs a minder beside him thats all.

reported he has the hump a thigh injury . Newcastle will offer him a better contract and all will be fine till next window .
Only way he signs is if he gets a release clause imo. At which point Newkie will have wasted their money and time as he'll be off next window when someone meets it. May as well keep him on a lower wage and sell when he gets down to a year left.

It's why Newcastle, despite all the money, will struggle to repeat what Man City did. PSR and player power/agents will keep them in the stepping stone zone for some time. Cup wins and a top4 finish while they struggle to keep their best players (who will probably all demand release clauses after this Isak mess)

It's funny, most of us thought of Slot's approach as more cautious and calculated than Klopp's, but his signings are leaning towards the adventurous side. It'll be fascinating to see where this is going, though as I've already said, I'm always concerned about too many changes at once.

I agree but when you sign quality players like we have, you have to be optimistic. Certainly, our defence will be better and Wirtz will bring a creativity that is exciting. I am looking forward to seeing this team in action
