Not sure his fitness is such an issue as is made out as he spent about a year playing with an injury which has now been fixed following surgery .Very much doubt we are interested though due to his wages which i assume are very large
Nah surely not. Brings absolutely nothing to the slot ball party. If you can't press and work forget it
Kdb would be a very intriguing one. He’s openly spoken about not ruling out staying in prem so doesn’t seem like he’s worried about lining up against city for any team. I guess given it’s the clubs decision and not his to leave he feels a bit less loyalty to them. No doubt his passing and ability on the ball is 2nd to none. Injury is bit of a worry but it does sound like he pretty much played most of last year with an injury and pushed through and suffered. Missed most this season but that was with 1 injury rather than picking up lots of niggles so not what would class as injury prone. Obviously not going to bring lots and lots of energy to midfield but in those games where playing against a deep defence and dominating the ball, he’s 1 player that can unlock things with passes or deliveries that we would miss from TAA going. I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to it.
If say salah decided to go to city and not dign a new deal we would be spitting blood. Kdb was assumed to be a long goodbye and then off to retirement funds by the few city fans thst are real. If he turned up in red I would be fuming too. But parking that what would we do to accommodate this. Sell Elliott for one? Move jones to compete with macca and not buy a real cm? Obviously everyone is pissy worried about something called ball advancement or whatever the slang for actually passing forward is but kdb makes no sense when you find him hanging round in salah like positions mostly. We want someone to be a 10 and score goals like palmer but press like Szoboszlai. (Yes I know greedy) kdb had a great goals and assists career but his legs are gone.
I don’t think what city fans think of it would make a blind bit of difference? Im not sure you can use this season as evidence his legs are gone. Clearly he’s not box to box like he was but his injury this season has prevented him from getting sharp and consistsnt minutes. I thinj it would be interesting - he wouldn’t be first name in team sheet starting every game but he’ll have games where he would be invaluable. In games where dominating the ball is rather have him as a deeper playmaker type role than szobo of Gravenberch who becomes redundant. Or if you’re searching for a goal in final 20 minutes, kdb to come kn and provide an option with his delivery which we don’t have since TAA gone. Whether he’s want to be a squad player is another thing, plus wages etc. But if he was in the squad I think he’s be a great option.
De Bruyne would be great coming off the bench for us when we need to kill a game or inject a creative spark. But that's a very expensive sub; we'd be paying him for what he's previously done rather than what he will do. I'd much rather sign the next creative playmaker then the previous one (some would say we already have a younger version)
Really? Unless you're basing it on say Jota and Nunez possibly leaving, I'd have thought we'd be concentrating on defence which needs reinforcing now.
We've just paid a guy £150k a week for playing about 3 games in the whole season so far. I think in comparison, IF KDB's wages are under £250k pw, it's worth a punt myself. But if the wages are over that, then nah. We don't want a Casimero situation - 2 years at most.
So, your option is... a previous deal didn't work out too well and this will only cost £5m pa more so why not?
Not how I'd put it. We'd expect at least half a season more games from KDB than we got from Chiesa (so far).
Only pulling your plonker mate I generally don't like taking cast offs so De Bruyne feels dirty to me
I'm in agreement that nunez should certainly be gone, Jota I don't know iw who would take him. It might be a case of 1 gone each year. If chiesa, nunez, morton, kelleher, Endo, Elliott and tsimikas are not gone this summer I will be utterly utterly shocked and disappointed. Gomez is an unknown. Hard to gauge the interest, hard to gauge his interest. Diaz is an unknown. His age and contract status suggests a contract might be given but it won't be easy but if he won't sign he should be sold. Konate is also an unknown. If he won't sign he must be flogged too. My ideal summer New contracts for Diaz and konate Mamardashvili does well in preseason. Davies is 3rd choice and jaros given another good loan. New stiker bought. New winger bought. New lb bought. New cm bought. New rb bought. I am skeptical on buying a cb but if gomez goes and konate won't sign then it's buy Huijsen (not) I'd like to see a winger who can play both sides as I am skeptical on salah next season (afcon) and Diaz might have to go. Be ideal to get a speed merchant in. Nunez has to go. We need a top striker. It's a must to build around thst new player as salah fades. I still firmly believe we need a cm. We can't have gravenberch and macallister backed with only Jones. A real option to rotate would be ideal. Endo is a nice lad but he is dead slow. We need a long term option here. I am skeptical on Bradley's fitness. He got injured late on loan. He came back in missed preseason, did fairly well for klopp, got an injury then this season he's had two hamstring injuries. We need an option I know we're 12 months late on the lb slot. We cannot cannot ignore this again. I'm skeptical on selling Elliott and buying kdb. Szoboszlai and jones could rotate. Alisson, marmadashvilli, Davies (hg) Bradley (hg) new rb New lb, Robertson Konate, quansah (hg) Vvd, Gomez? (Hg) - this looks like buying is future wise Gravenberch, new cm Macallister, same new cm as cover, jones Szoboszlai, Jones, elliott Gakpo, Diaz New 9, Jota Salah, new winger 5 buys. 250mil.
Look, thiago came in and was pure class but couldn't get about but when fit we won a lot of games. Was thiago really a great idea when not fit and costing 200k a week etc? Without him imo we would not have finished 4th in that bad year. But did Elliott and jones really delivering enough to wait for them and not buying a younger better player? Buying gravenberch, macallister and Szoboszlai basically turned us around.
I think Bradley's injuries have been down to his body still growing. Stress fractures and muscle injuries are common in young athletes. Didn't Gerrard have a number of similar injury issues starting out in the first team? The older he gets, we should see less of these types of injury. I couldn't guess on Nunez. He needs to have a word with himself because he's starting to look like he's missing the goal on purpose . In Nunez' defence, I think Slot took his confidence away early on. All players are different with some playing better in 'adversity' to prove a point and others needing an arm around the shoulder and outside belief in them in order for them to perform. Nunez is the latter.
