the punishments have already been massively watered down since the headline grabbing 10 pointer.

If an owner doesn't care they can rack up massive debt in the clubcos who cares about 2 points?

Imo a club will go bust ans all tje rules require between 15mil and 105 mil losses is an undertaking to pay creditors.

If the punishment to going -200 or -500 or whatever is just 2 points and then an owner shrugs cos hjey cant pay despite their undertaking then that will be that.

Fundamentally this is the wrong thinking of fans. Fans who claim the small club is kept down. Your club and your fathers or grandfather's club is put in the hands of some random owner and gambled.

See bordeaux.

See valencia

See 777 group clubs. See sevilla heading down the la liga table as their owners have left them saddled.

Unless I go looking to refresh my memory on how FFP works, I just don't understand it and how breaches can keep getting such relatively minuscule punishments.

When I don't understand the reasons, I just default to there must be money in it for those in charge - football associations? - and they value that more than fairness and competitiveness.

Not a bad rule of thumb I suspect. In City's case they can certainly afford more expensive lawyers than the football authorities which may be one of the reasons it all takes so long.

It's simple enough.

You can lose 15mil over 3 years and no punishment.

If you lose more than that but under 105mil over 3 years you get tutted at and your energy has to pinky swear they will pay the bills. (So over 10 years you can have a massive unsustainable debt and never be in psr trouble)

If you go over -105 them someone has to have a meeting and decide how to make an example put of you without actually asking am example.

Hence the big splashy 10 point deduction for Everton when they were in no real relegation danger that was reduced on appeal and then a miserly 4 point for having the exact same breach again. Again when there was no danger.

They then sweated over forest until it was clear they would probably not go down and gave them 2 points for an even bigger breach.

Thus psr is dead. You can breach and you'll only get a miserly penalty if any at all.

Chelsea are raking up massive real losses and playing the game with swapsies to maximise the annual accounting fee on the credit side but doing it to offside a landslide of amortises fees on thr debit side.

When mainoo is boight for 70mil it helps utd massively as they could then spend say 350mil this summer no issue.

All chelsea need is utd to agree to swap a cheslea hg player in return so no actual cars changes hands.

You just have to find a chelsea hg player thsts left and worth anything.

What you've said here is easy enough to understand, thanks. The problem, I guess, comes about with what is included in the profit and loss accounting. Talk of equity injection, for example, go right over my head.

Really all we need know is the oil states and likes of bohley don't care about profit and loss.

City fakes revenue to look like a global force.

Chelsea just lost 90mil last year (not.even isre that's real) and 120 the year before.) They don't seem to care.

This is how ambramovich kept chelsea going. Just lending the club structure money then writing off the debt.

This is just really about haves and have lots.

The rich and powerful will find a way to go do what they want when they want. If they want to win and don't care what it costs then they will.

Not that I can see.

Uefa might slap on a fine or a reduced squad (that can be covered by u21s anyway) but they've not touched Chelsea at all.

The premier league independent whazzit hit Everton with 10 and everyone Sat up and panicked and a genuine reduction in spend in January was observed

It has now been wiped out so imo there is no real deterrent at all and when city are let off this month (just wait for England to play Monday next week) then imo it will be open season to dope massively.

Newcastle have held off if anything. They have pushed the revenue up commercially but are miles off on match day and need the tv reward of the cl.

They will go mad once back in the cl and will absolutely pump thier revenues.

I do not see anyone getting a player out of there like isak.

Newcastle are only a few players away imo.

4 signings this summer are an absolute must. That's major surgery, basically a new defence and new attack.

We won't have the depth as we will have to get those 4 and 2 are replacements for players being let go out of contract.

Just to get those 4 we will be doing very well.

but then again I thought that we’d be luck to get top 6 this year.

My target was top 4 which was based on the same squad but a lesser manager.

Now looking at the hack job Hughes seems to be on and given slot may not even be given a say in who is bought we could be headed for much worse than top 6 and we will know it from the buys fairly quickly.

If we keep the same players and lose the top quality it really will be making do
 
I'm not sure what to expect for the future. Will Slot be better with his own men, or will we walk in the wilderness for a long time? Slot has done fantastic, but even if he (as looks likely) wins his first title in his first year... I'm not sure he'll get a second. He's done very well to guide the team to the precipice of success this year but remains to be seen if he can do it again having to completely rebuild.
 
After Klopp left, any manager coming in would be given time to get it right. Unfortunately, the pressure will be on Slot next season if we do go on to win the league.

Its crazy how much of a good job he has done under relatively poor conditions Only signed Chiesa in the summer not sure its who Slot wanted as doesnt seem to want to play him. Had the 3 contract situation going on in the background all season. I am bit worried that they havent even got one of them signed up. And next season could be another huge job as could possibly have to replace at least 6 players (Trent, VVD, Salah, Robertson, Nunez and Jota). I would say we need a new midfielder as well to help Gravenberch.

He's done a good job, as has his stsff in general.

But they have a squad they are not really in tune with and it shows. Thry have a core set of plauers thry seem happy with and a load they have no interest in unless there's no option.

this just says they have very clear ideas. Every coach should, it doesn't show flexibility though.

If these clear ideas are not turned into action by hughes to support "his coach" then it'll end in tears.

I'm looking at quite a short list of plauers now, not a squad for next season and a massive amount of change coming.

Get that change wrong and we go backwards rapidly.

I'm already 2 bodies short of a squad here without even changing the lb. That's down to contract

Again I'm 2 players short as endo and morton don't work. Too many poor options for 10.

Chiesa

So before the obvious we are a man short up top and thats before any issues get resolved.

Chiesa can't run.
Jota can't stay fit
Nunez is a moron


Now I'm going to throw in konate and Diaz contract issues too.

Oh oh.

So these contracts are going to core out our squad before we make any of the desired improvements.

They are going to drop us from a side thst maintained standards while others dropped off to a side that's back in the pack chasing.

That's just reality.

So hughes needs to do his job
