I think responsible = covid times. They borrowed just in case it got really bad and then paid it all back without spending it ob players. They opened the purse for klopp to get our midfield and then firmly closed it last summer to balance it. There's a level of caution in them over and above say what arsenal get up to. We make more money than arsenal (mist years, this years announcement we are going to dip due to europa league last season) and pay more in salary out. Yes arsenal spent 130mil net for 3 season running to catch up over 200mil more than us net. We have a number in and around 40 to 50mil that we can spend when we have cl football. That'd the differnece between responsible and cautious. Fsg are cautious. Hopefully the 61k stadium plus the concerts drive stadium venues about 100mil and we can kick on a bit. Lfc is a very rich club.
I think if you look at most of our transfer windows it’s generwlly spend money one year recoup it and do minimal next year spend money next year recoup it and so on we spent about 45m this year on keeper and chiesa and recouped over that in sales. last year we spent big on a midfield on grav mac szobo endo And only got a bit back in Hendo and fab. Of you look at outgoings it’s only this year in the last few years that we’ve made a profit
Apparently we’re supposedly being linked with another El Hadji Diouf I hope he’s not related to the useless nasty prick below
Yes last year we were about 80mil net and this season with all the comings and goings we were 0.6mil However that doesn't take the financial uears into account or amortisation and such. We certainly watch the cash flow but we also seek to play the game with putting the spend in the year we want. We got macallister in 22/23 finanical year. We got szoboszlai and gravenberch and endo in 23/24 timing (post july 1). I'm not sure when or if we paid the full fee for the keeper. Then chiesa is for sure in 24/25. That says to me we closed on 23/24 accounts with minimum spend possible after the prior season got 2 big players in. I think we should think about two things for next summer. 1. What is the losses we see in the accounts for 23/24 that are published and what does that leave for psr. (Will the club wait to July 1 to sign to make 24/25 offset thst psr year) 2. Will only having chosen fee in 23/24 mean lfc make an early signing prior to July 1 to spread the transfers? (So where does the keeper fall in to this?)
El Hadji Malick Diouf. Not related, 20, LB, plays for Slavia Prague. They want £21m for him, rejected £12m from Palace. Seen clips of him, seems to get beaten easily, not sure he's worth more than Palace wanted to pay. Has the feel of an Agent trying to get his player a move and a club trying to get the money they want.
90% implies 10% are good.... And Salah only played two years in Italy after 6 years for clubs elsewhere. Coutinho was on loan outside of Italy for the vast majority of his time with Inter Milan. Think it was only one season he actually stayed in Italy.
Ok. I just have a feeling that Kavamathingybob is deffo part of the 10%. But we were 'interested' in him, so FSG have done their bit, I suppose.
Be a waste of money anyway. Why spend 70m and 200k a week on another forward when already have gakpo diaz nunez Jota Salah chiesa plus the kids. A CM and LB far more important.
I don't think Nunez will last with Slot. Chiesa is still a big question mark. I like Gakpo, but he could be improved upon. If we have the chance of a top tier player, releasing one of those three (or more than one of them) in order to sign one, wouldn't be a mistake.
