Reality check.

Vvd out of contract
Trent out of contract
Salah out of contract.

That of course doesn't mean all three will be missing next season. I'd be very surprised if at least one (probably Trent) didn't stay on longer.

My prediction is maybe two of the three will sign extensions before Christmas

Perhaps he wants to leave, maybe for one last big payday - but if no viable offer is forthcoming then he can stay, without losing face. Perhaps he's already said he wants to leave but doesn't want to make it public. It could be the reason for us buying another winger - who knows?
Lots of fans take the 'ump if a player isn't constantly saying how much he loves the club and wants to stay forever, but I just think he's being sensible at this stage of his career.
I'd actually keep him now - because I cba doing sums I don't care about how much we'd get (the horse has bolted on the really big fee anyway), and I think he's still an asset on the pitch.
I like him more now as a team player than when he tried to do everything himself.

Agreed.

I’m past the point of caring tbh, he’s one of our greats and could’ve ****ed off any season. He’s been one of the best in the world for the best part of a decade and gave his best years to us.

Leave for free, sign again - it’s all good as far as I’m concerned, and he’s hit the ground running again this season, as he always does

Don't think any of us begrudge him leaving for free after what's he's given us over the years. However, most are concerned about the team going forward after he's left and getting a wedge for him would obviously help that.

No I doubt anyone would.

Salah could play to 35 or could drop of a cliff. Nobody knows. If he singed a 1 year deal at 350k a week the majority imo would be happy.

Vvd can play to 35 or 36. He doesn't need massive pace to head the ball amd keep the line organised. Letting him contract put at 32 is stupid.

Letting a 100mil trent at 25 contract out is worse than stupid it's criminally negligent.

The reality is lfc have allowed the window to understand and move these players for fees pass. Irrespective of anything else allowing the fi Al window to monetise 3 absolute key first team players pass and then be faced with replacing all at once is stupid.

And yes it's bradley. Quansah amd chiesa as replacements with nothing below them.

Doak and Gordon and bajcetic to be "like new signings" as a headline next summer no doubt

We are talking the real.world.class talent we managed to get (one cheap at 34, on off continuous money, one free from youths)

The reality of fsg is all the success actually really started flowing after barca dropped that 140mil on us.

Vvd direct after. Alisson amd fabinho after that. Before it we could buy one or two out of a budget of our own cash And got firmino then mane then salah over successive windows. (And selling failures like benteke)

Last summer we had to stretch fsg slightly to allow us to get Szoboszlai and macca and gravenberch at a higher net spend and they went and sold 10% for "cash flow"

Now we see the reality of last summer with a zero spend summer this year to bring us right back into line with the about 40mil spend or so available.

Some people report it as nearly 50mil wow.

Amazing.

The reality is we are about 7th or 8th in spend and 4th in wages I think.

We.just scrape under the 70% revenue to spend threshold coming in so if we drop out of the cl at all we have a massive issue

I really think that we are trying to shift all high earners at the club and are not offering these world.class players what they can get at a lot of other clubs as a result.

Wtf were Arsenal thinking? Sterling? <laugh>

Also, WTF was Sancho thinking? He's not even getting a squad number at Chelsea <laugh>

In summary - we didn't have a good transfer window. Chiesa as a backup for Jota is good because we know that Jota struggles to play a full season. That's one tick in one box. Mamardashvili for next season, loaned back for free, not ideal but evidence of a bit of succession planning. Not sure that gets a tick in a box.

Selling and loaning the best of the younger players, again not sure that is the best move with the amount and intensity of games coming up. We have Virgil, Konaté, Gomez and Quansah as CB's, two who are injury prone, with literally nobody else. We must be due a relatively injury free season. If not, we've given ourselves a massive task to compete seriously in four competitions.

Tbf Brighton have made about 200m net sales over last 2 years (mainly thanks to Chelsea) so over 3 year window they’re well within ffp

Well we will see. The unfairness about this is those big sales where they got real cash fall off the end of the cycle while the buys with the sale cash stay on the negative side as amortisation so in a couple years thry won't be able to buy a thing.

Brighton got in money and spent it. Didn't break any rules but will have the hangover of spending for 3 years.

Ipswich have just done a forest. Like as if they paid zero attention.

Never been in the prem.so can only have 66million in losses this season but go send an absolute monster amount of cash gambling to stay up.

Almost certain to be next to be govne a penalty

We've no intent in competing.

Anyone saying the squad is awesome and nobody could improve on endo and tsimiaks and jones clearly have no real intent.
