Can't help but think we're either doing this because we know Chelsea will have to top our bid and will do, and even if they don't, the player wants to go to Chelsea. Then, when we get neither, we can pretend we tried our best. Obviously, I want both and, if we get Thiago off the books too for @ £15m and his £200k a week wages with him, and Nat Phillips to Leeds for £10m, I think we have the FFP room and the debt scope to do it, as long as we have quiet windows for the next 2 years (i.e. what we had between 2020 - 2021 anyway).
