Red circles show him scoring equal to or more than the mentioned ten despite playing less games. The blue circles ratio of goals to games is also better than Lukaku's ten in 36 games... #youasked #ianswered
Sturridge was averaging a goal a game when Suarez was banned He almost set a record for consecutive games scored in
I must admit I only looked at the totals for his City, Chelsea and Bolton games, Didn`t look at Pool because he always had the Suarez influence there. 2006–2009 Manchester City 21 (5) 2009–2013 Chelsea 63 (13) 2011 → Bolton Wanderers (loan) 12 (8) 2013– Liverpool 55 (35) Only the time at Bolton stands out.
You also have to remember that at Man City and Chelsea his figures are screwed by sub appearances. I don't believe Studge is a world beater, nor am I discussing who is the better player between him and Lukaku. I am merely responding to your comment, he is certainly capable of regularly beating the ten goals Lukaku got. However, I also believe Lukaku is much better than the ten goals he got too, he's just at a small club that lacks quality on the pitch
I am on record on this board somewhere around the Feb/March after you bought Sturridge saying I have never seen a player improve his attitude and game so much, I was very impressed with him. I just asked what the statement "Would score more than 10" was based on, he may be capable in the right circumstances but I wouldn`t have bet on it last year.
Do you mean the 2014-15 season with that comment? If so, he only played twelve games but still scored four. That ratio over a thirty-eight game season comes out at 12.6 goals so still beats the ten suggested. However, if you are suggesting injuries will be the reason then I have no argument as I agree. If you meant the 2013-14 season then there is no point in continuing this conversation
Difference being, he wasn't injured. If a player is injured then they can't help the team and are therefore of no use to said team. However, you can't write off their abilities based on injury. IMO, Studge won't get ten plus goals in a season too often because of injury troubles. However, if he was able to stay fit and be available for every game, I have no doubt he'd get double figures every year. It depends which side of the fence you are.
He has gone to Yankland (again) for the miracle cure (again) that you can`t get in England, he should be fine. For the record, I would have him as a 15-20 goal striker with a consistent injury free season.
I'd agree with that. I think he's better with a partner in crime (not Mario) or in a front three, not keen on him at all as a lone striker.
There are not many around who can carry the lone striker role off well, to be honest the only great premier league players that come immediately to mind are Drogba, RvN, Henry and Torres.
Can't say I agree with RvN, I'd chuck Suarez and Costa in there though (neither have done it for long but proved they can)
