Most accounts are suggesting around 45m. Some saying rising to 50-55m with adds on.

Don’t think anyone will ever know. Brighton will be using their contacts to put out that for a decent price to appease the fans, lfc will want to put out a lower price to make seem cheaper etc. grand scheme, as long as it doesn’t stop up getting couple more players and he plays well, doesn’t really make a difference to us
the accounts will show the figure as will the contract lodged with the FA.

I sincerely doubt brighton fans will care. a contract was singed pre world cup and the player would not sign that without whatever clause so the intent was only ever to preserve value for this sale.

Same for Caicedo. he signed a deal in feb for some reason to have a very average (not big wage for us) wage so that contract must be preserving value but not holding the player and he will go too.

The sad truth is clubs seem to think they can ask 70, 80,90, 100mil for every player and it needs to get a bit real at this point.

Being reported that we've signed Mac Allister for £35m.

Pictures of him going into the AXA for his medical overnight.

Release clause are generally required to be upfront payments. My guess would be the release clause was around £35m but we are cheapskates so we probably offered £25m-£30m fee (paid in instalments) with £20m+ in add-ons.

Wouldn’t have been a free as he still had/has 1 year to run on it but would have been in last year so value would have obviously dropped. Does seem like was a compromise but sounds like it wasn’t a normal release clause so who knows.

Excited by him though. Everyone speaks really highly about him as a person as well as a player which is a good sign. Hoping he slots right in easily and doesn’t need a bedding in period that he needed at Brighton. Hoping that’s down to a new league/language rather than anything else
Ah right. I trust your knowledge of Brighton players more than anyone else. I can't say I've seen him other than in our games but from what I've read he's a hard worker and a top professional. If he can play a bit, that's a bonus :bandit:

how many games has really affected (positively) imo it is just a handful .

PS i'm feeling better than i have for weeks so after pretty much 6 weeks dry i'm half a bottle of

the above and therefore a tad pissed .<cheers>

He was critical in getting us top 4 during that horrendous season in 20/21. His ability in our build up play is second to none and he's also been our best midfielder from a defensive aspect. He may have been more available this season had we not expected him to be like Kante.

So Brighton and other mid table clubs should just hand over their best players to the bigger clubs for 10-20m because asking for 70 is too much?

Can I buy your house for £10k? I think what your asking for is silly and we need to get real at this point.

Disappointing because he was there for the taking. Jude wanted us but we f*cked it simply because we decided to wait and wait for him, neglect our squad, then ultimately fall out of the CL and then leave ourselves with a big rebuild to do.

This is a blessing in disguise because it sounds like we will get 3 midfielders for the price Jude. And it seems that lessons have now been learnt.

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Evan Ndicka will be leaving the Bundesliga outfit on a free transfer with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool reportedly keen to lure the defender to the Premier League.

I didn't read mito's comment like that.

I don't think that anyone (not you) can on the one hand say that transfer fees are ridiculous and then on the other hand complain that players aren't sold for more than, let's say, five times what they were bought for. I read into what mito was saying as there has to be a sensible middle ground.

We don't know what went on other than what it appears to be,looking from the outside. We should have strengthened, didn't and had the season we had because of it. It could be a blessing in disguise, as you say, in that we get 3 players for the price of one and those we are being linked with certainly make that make sense.

I said previously that I think going to Real at this point is a mistake. Others shouted me down. Real and Barcelona are notorious for making it extremely difficult for players who don't come rushing out of the blocks. I wish him good luck, he seems a nice enough young lad.

no never said a thing like that.

Brighton fans should simply see they got a contract signed only due to a stipulation that's created this fee. asking 70mil for a player then is impossible.

the equivalent of gobshites at Chelsea demanding 70 for mount. he contract is running out. the end.

ask what you can get. if there was no contract clause and Brighton had 4 years on contract and asked 70 the player might go mad but the next guy in might think twice if he has an equivalent option.

i agree he had a spell that season when he was easily our best player but that hasn't been the norm imo . I just see it as style over substance far too often .

thats not being cheapskate more completely financially illiterate .

Not when the add-ons are unlikely to happen and if they do, you're then not bothered about paying out (plus they were example figures to explain the angle)

Wouldn't be the first time we've paid more than required so it can be structured

Just look at our top transfer target last summer, Tchouemeni (sp), with rumours he could be out the door after hardly featuring.

Most of the main add ons are easily achievable much cheaper just to pay up even if that means borrowing the money

But the selling club can demand what ever they want. If no one pays then fine player doesn’t go unless the selling club agrees to lower the fee.

Im not sure who you’re angry at? Brighton haven’t asked 70m for him because he has a release clause. If he didn’t they ask more and that’s totally their prerogative.

much like we asked for 120m for coutinho.
