Not really. You're thinking along the lines of Suarez etc.

Not every player is wired the same, there are a lot of different styles.

Suarez type of striker very rare. He has a lot of energy. He does collect the ball from midfield. Mario Ballotelli too lazy to do this.

Suarez is unique IMO. Really special player.

Yep, Mario is lazy to do this but so are most strikers. It's hard to find players who put in the graft that Suarez does.

Not if they had license to come inside. Nothing wrong with starting wide. Suarez would often start wide and then come inside, wasn't criminal then and he's a far better player than both.

Coutinho scored a couple of worldies starting wide and coming in last year as well.

Its only a position, whole thing would be flexible enough to adapt and interchange like it was under sasas 2 years ago

Suarez played as an inside forward at Ajax - it was his best position.

Firmino and Coutinho are best positioned in centrally, that's where you want them.

Agree with your last point but I really don't have a clue what Rodgers will do. Signings would indicate he wants to set up as 4-2-3-1.

  6. No, I'm thinking of just about every striker that ever lived. Players make movement to make space or get on the end of things. I'm not talking about running endlessly like Suarez, Tevez, etc. I'm talking about the games basic movements when in possession, offering yourself as a option.

You're describing typical number 9's - fox in the box.

Mario simply isn't that - he's a link/target man. Labelling him as a striker is wrong IMO.

Every strike should have the ability to be opportunists...poacher. Capitalising of mistakes of defenders.

id rather others before him but at least if he's playing for us, he can't cause is issues when we play villa!

cant deny he's dominated our defence in recent years

might also help our defends deal with that type of striker by training against him

Benteke is a good player, and I gave seen him running from the deep (midfield area) to collect ball
from wingers and score. Also good with his head.

Benteke might not excite a lot of people, including me. There is no denying though that he is better than Lambert, Borini, Balotelli, Origi and Ings. He has a lot more to his game then getting on the end of crosses too, he might not be what we want, but he is far from the worst option.

My medical would take all week <laugh>

In other news, I didn't have the detailed chat with my mate last night. He dropped my cheese at the Cheese but was then on Sterling watch as it was rumoured something was breaking. It didn't <grr>

I think most Liverpool supporters that do not like Benteke is because he always scores against us.
Aston Villa had not gone away with 3 points at Anfield until Benteke came.

  19. I like Benteke, I just don't think he fits in unless we're changing our style.

If our current "style" means we lose 6-1 to Stoke, then I'm open to changing it.
