Didn't need to. He was genuinely confused by the question. 'You think we should say goodbye just in case?'.
He actually said "Caiom?" (if that's the shortened form for Caiomhin) when asked. He went on to talk about Adrian as well and he's not leaving either.
He's a really, really good player...... but. Are we going to change the way we play? He had Fernandez doing all the donkey work in the WC - currently we don't have such a player at Liverpool (though I'm still jizzing about Fab's performance on Monday). I just fear we're making the same mistake as we did with Thiago (and we did make a mistake, admit it, if we shoehorn this type of player into a three-man midfield and ask him to play high-tempo press. If we got Caiacedo as well though... and I'd personally prefer Rice over Bellingham any day of the week (but we'd have to sell half the squad for FSG to shell out £100m). Not sure if a Tchumeani that failed at Real is the answer either. Surely we need to be making a bigger effort for Gvardiol though? Be surprised if we get more than two seasons (if that) from Virgil - he's aged quickly. Matip is beginning to look all of his 52 years, and Joe is... Joe. Konate will be long-term, but he's an athlete rather than a brain like Virgil. We should be looking ahead now - lack of advance planning from the heights of the 2019/2020 team is how we ended up with this season, imo.
