    Don't believe everything you read...*

*Obviously, I haven't got a clue whether any of that's true or not.

I'm of the feeling, if we really wanted to sign a midfielder we would have. Over the past few years we've shown that we don't sign a lot of players but we do relentlessly pursue those we really want.

I believe Klopp thought he had everything under control and could wait until Bellingham was available, and then the injuries and bad results came in so he looked back over the shortlist to see who was cheap we could get last minute and decided Melo was the man.

Will be a proper downer when Bellingham signs for City next summer. They will likely out bid us and offer him a significantly higher salary too.

While we have been pissing about with midfielders since Gini left

Yes, it is a confirmed conspiracy theory. City outbid us for VVD and signed him instead of us, and that explains his poor form this year. :bandit:

Trojan horse, he'd become a legend for us, and once we were reliant on him, he would have a poor sequence of games.

All signs point to Bellingham having his head screwed on right. He comes from a good family who are advising him and his brother (also a footballer at Birmingham) well. He turned down moves to Bayern, utd, Real and Chelsea to go to Dortmund because he said that money doesn't motivate him, his development does. He wanted as much game time as he could get and Dortmund guaranteed him that when the other big clubs couldn't. I'd like to think that his motivation hasn't changed in the space of a couple of years. Whether he comes to us or not remains to be seen but I see no reason not to be optimistic.

Not sure Bellingham is even a pep type midfielder? He’s very much energy box to box where as pep does prefer a more technical type player.

He may also look and see England team mate Phillips going there, barely playing.

May see a much clearer pathway into our first team and be one of the main men in our midfielder rather than going city and sitting behind rodri Phillips kdb silva gundogan.

Then again we might have had a **** year, be outside the CL and not competing for troohies and he may want to go to city to almost guarantee wins. Who knows, long season ahead for things to change.

We're in 7th. No one over our shoulder looks a threat to us in the long term of the season, so don't think we'll finish below 7th.

Ahead of us is Brighton, who, let's face it aren't going to be there by the end of the season.

United, who are a big unknown. Found their feet recently will they keep them or exchange them for peg legs?

Chelsea, who probably aren't as much a threat now Tuchel is gone.

    Spurs, who always go Spursy.

Out of that lot, can't say who... but I think we can pick up a couple more places by midseason. 5th will probably be close enough for Bellingham to trust we can make Europe.

I'm not convinced we can make top four without Bellingham by end of season... Maybe, but certainly questionable at the moment. (I'm not sure we would make top four with him either.)..

So I think we're more likely to get him in January window than summer if we stand any chance of signing him (if he will only move for CL).

I don't know if its pessimism. I'm optimistic for our long term success, I always saw this year as a transition year, I said as much last year. Don't think we'll do well this season, but I think we'll be challenging for glory again next season or at least the year after because we've got a good young core building again.

    Is that pessimism or optimism?

In 20/21 city dropped 9 points in their first eight games. The world stopped. They went on to win the league. We can do the same.

It is not over until is over!. :emoticon-0148-yes: We are having our bad games early in the season. "The person that is not yet dead do not know the type of disease that will kill him. or her"

    Wrong thread lads.

There's a deluded thread all set up for this talk.

Save this one for stupid transfer rumours that are clearly fake.
