And journos ask some pretty stupid questions. That said, it always surprises me how naive footballers can be.

You do know that you get an agreed set price from shirt manufactures at the beginning of each season (or maybe the length of agreement) and after that they get all the profits?
I've never understood the "he will pay for himself in shirt sales" argument.
Ronaldo is the obvious one.
but its an on going theme. Your shirt manufacturer pays x amount to make and sell your shirts.
Unless addidas or Nike give your a few million extra to sign who ever it makes no sense

Actually, I think we do have a deal where we do get a percentage of all sales. We don't have the traditional lump sum. It's lump.sum plus some sales... (Although I can't imagine selling enough to pay for it from.our cut).
even if we sold a million shirts (which I sincerely doubt) and make £20 a shirt (which I sincerely doubt), it’d only cover what he cost for the next 12m
