Damn; I had money on us doing a last-day panic-loan with a European team for some unknown midfielder, and a £400k outlay for a 24-year-old, Championship winger who'd never actually kick a ball in anger for us. :emoticon-0108-speec

nothing new in that news.

Klopp signalled it clearly in november.

We have two cups and two league games to cope with. 5 games in total. if we had firmino and jota up top we would or should be able to find some way to play without salah.
 
Trippier to newcastle 12mil fee. Sound a little more reasonable bit still expensive for a guy who's on his way rapidly down hill.

Til you think they are playing manquillo there.

It's already too late mate.

Defense is ok, keeper is ok but midfield and forwards are absolutely snagged in first team.amd depth. Hoping jones and elliott improve more to take over bit are too similar in some ways

We are going to be 100% struggling in 2024

£12m Plus.

They'll be realistic add-ons A Madrid are fairly smart when it comes to selling. I'd guess theres a 'avoid relegation clause' and 'minimum amount of games clause'

Probably end up closer to £20m.

Unfortunately for Newcastle, that's the category type they'll have to approach until they reach a certain level that will attract better prospects

This is the result of hardly investing in the squad since we won the CL ..
 

well IMO you want one or two a year minimum just to stop the rot.

Elliott after the CL. minamino in the january thats an awful two windows irrespective of what we think of the young lad.
Jota, Tsimikas - pretty good summer. Thaigo as an ould fella is only ever stop gap but its 3 lads in.
konate- not bad at all. but only one person in.

the rot is not only players going over the hill like milner its players like shaqiri, origi and minamino that not one single fan anywhere can deny are never good enough to challenge for anything but a comfy seat on a bench when they are bothered.

I don't mind backing some young players and then seeing where they end up. Ward -12mil. Solanke 19mil etc.. Williams and williams could be worth 20mil between them. but there has to be competition.

right now fabinho has zero competition. he doesn't look the same player imo
Henderson is over the top
Keita has failed
Ox is ridiculous.
milner is player coach territory in the u23s (theres a few like him out there now, I'd make him u23 manager/player)
Firmino is imo headed over the top of the hill as well and down the other side.

Its not who left imo but who stayed thats hurting the performances :)

I can see half a team in 2024 that I think would be good, but theres a lot of work to do. minimum 3 buys this summer, minimum. I'd sell more to get 4 or 5 in if i had the choice.

Yep, can't argue with that. Such a shame that we were literally on top of the world after the CL win and we just decided to stagnate and let everyone else catch us up.

Of course, COVID completely shattered our plans but we needed to do more if we wanted to stay at the top.

we didn't decide to stagnate. We decided that the spending done was more than enough.

thus far in 2021/22 we have broken even, the deal for porto on grujic is even delayed to show up in july 2022 to help them so on 2022/23 we are already in the black!

In 2020/21 we put instalment fees in so have paid for jota and thiago over the two years. it was net 60mil so this is why we spent shag all in the summer in 2021/22

In 2019/20 we took in 30mil

In 2018/19 we spend 126mil and got accused left and right of "buying things"

In 2017/18 we took in 10 mil.

in 2016/17 we took in 5mil

after that it just goes too far back


average that out over the "3 year" type rule and its clear the net 126mil is now gone as far as FFP is concerned.

if you think about it we have sold anyone klopp didn't want to fund who we did want and gave klopp a bit of CL money to spend once. now I am not saying we have not shovelled out masses of cash at agents in particular and players in wages as we have. we are one of the worst offenders for paying agents (or i should say the worst offender who admits the total)

6 years. 2 season of net spend with the 7th future window already 10mil in the black lol. its barely 30mil spend per year if averaged over the full 6 years.


there is really SO much evidence of where certain clubs are hiding cash its unbelievable. the oil dopers don't seem to report anywhere near the agents fees despite buying more players at more expensive fees and they move staff wages away as well.

Its very clear we are totally on our own here. the sooner the main stand is paid back to FSg the better so we can claw back another 10mil to boost that pitful transfer fund lol
