it’s relative to our competition isn’t it? Against city, Utd and Chelsea we will be weaker if they spend big and we don’t. That’s not a complaint mind, it’s just factual <ok>

I'm unsure on this, its not just how much us spent but how that signing fits into the team.

Chelsea pissed alot if money away last year and are making similar noises again.

If city spunk 100 million on grealish, would you say that he made them stronger? Who would you take out if their first 11 to put him in.

Utd can pay what they want for who they want, unless the manager suddenly comes up with a plan, they will always be also rans

Do you think he is bankrolling them really?
Could be another ManU situation. Disliked owner, not being seen to being doing enough, blamed for a lack of progression etc etc

They had to find the money for Pepe somwhere.

But who knows, Kroenke does seem far more detached than other owners.

Maybe their ground was finally starting to make money

2 years out of CL and 50mil for Ben white, no stadium returns for 12 months as well.

Who knows

Anyone who says that Utd’s signing won’t improve them is just bias. Sure, without a top coach, they won’t win the league but they will improve.

City; I agree…adding Grealish means that you have to remove a top player so any improvement will be a small increment.

If Chelsea get Haaland he improves them massively (IF)

Again, who says varane adapts to this country? Who would have guessed werner coukdnt hit a barn door or had only the sketchiest understanding of the offside rule.

It's not how much a player cost, its the research and the idea of how he fits into the team to make the team play better. It's where klopp and fsg has succeed, they identified a gap and bought the player best able to fill that gap.

They've not gone off who's the flavour of the month and tried to shoe horn them into the side.

Keep hoping fella

Look for every who can say there is a who cannot say.

Chelsea are european champions. Their form under tuchel is enough to make anyone sit up and take notice for the title this season.

City are city. Grealish gives them the ability to enter the 10m synchronised competition with sterling. Both on the left. Imo all it does is add depth but I still feel there's an aguero sized hope in their side.

Utd, with respect, varane v lindeloff??? One is a class act and the other is a panicker

Utd had a massive hole in the right of their attack. James could only fall over where as sancho is a vastly superior faller overer.

All 3 have improved. Over the past 6 months.

Liverpool need to improve, but that's just a fact of life. At least we are not spurs

seriously? Or are you just baiting Diego?

Varane is a World Cup winner and has won the CL a few times, as well as la liga and domestic cups.

Werner looked promising in the German league.

absolutely no comparison. He’s a top quality signing imo.

however, he still has to play next to Maguire <whistle>

Sorry just trying to make the point that throwing massive amounts of money at a new signing doesn't gaurentee success.

I must have missed the direct correlation between how much money a player cost and how good he is next season.

theres a difference between seeing a top player and one we've seen in direct action many times and thinking yeah he is koala-tea and well, FM style timo werner is ace stuff.

Varane has been seen by us all, absolutely great player. you are right. he could be a veron.

silva is a quality player played properly by tuchel and so the question to my mind is not if varane settles but if utd play him properly. With two heehaws in front of him (mctominay and fred) and a heehaw beside him to head it I am sure varane will improve utd no end.

all anyone needs to do is not be lindeloff and they improve.

I'll stick my neck out on this one and say he'll be an improvement on Lindelof. I can just sense it, somehow. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Teams in France struggling with finances so sure there are a few players who could be snapped up. What with lille already having lost their manager and other couple key signings, wonder what management will do.

Be reluctant to sell anyone else so they don’t completely strip the club, or if the players remaining will want to jump ship as they know will struggle to replicate the performances they showed last season.

we've seen a lot of clubs stripped like monaco for example in the past.

Every club is different i suppose but if they can make a lot of money they might be very happy to do so, knowing psg will walk all over them the following year anyway.

the mentality can be very different to a club expecting to win things not wanting to lose players or a club worried about relegation etc. they might just shrug and go out and get the next guy
