cost 10k

pay 10k up front?
pay 2.5k each year over 4 years?

Depends on if i expect the car to last 4 years, what's the mileage and how has it been driven/abused?
Does it have a re-sale value at the end of it?

Those factors have 0 impact on anything? You have to pay 10k in total, you just have a choice of in 1 go or 4 instalment over 4 year period.

Your choice, how are you paying?

If i have the money, straight away mate.
I wouldn't want it to impact on future finances/decisions like if i wanted or needed to refurb my kitchen.

God I hope you don’t teach any kind of economics.

So rather than keeping extra 7.5k in the bank which attracts interest and allows you to also cover any emergency costs, you pay the whole 10k In one go, have no money to invest or use it for anything else and have to live on a much tighter budget, while also having no money for this kitchen refurb you want because you’ve just spent it all on a car.

makes perfect sense that one...

Yep, pay it while you can. No good needing a kitchen refurb in two years but realising you still have to pay the car off so it will have to collapse around you.
 
Couldn't care less how its done. We needed left back cover and we got that. We needed more talent in midfield and we got that. We needed cover for the front three and we got that.

Can pay it with a deposit of polo's for all I care.

Yeah but your going to need more cover next year because players get older. Are you going to buy more "on tick" and how long can it go on?
