Daniel Sturridge: Ex-Liverpool striker arrives in Turkey before expected Trabzonspor move
Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has arrived in Turkey before his expected move to Trabzonspor.

The 29-year-old was released by the Reds in the summer after a six-year stay during which he scored 67 goals in 160 appearances.

The former England forward began his career at Manchester City before joining Chelsea in 2009.

He also spent six months on loan at Bolton during his time with the Blues before making the move to Anfield.

In July, Sturridge was banned from playing football for two weeks and fined £75,000 after being found guilty of breaching betting rules.

He was given a six-week ban, four of which were suspended, and was free to play again on 31 July.

Good luck to him. Shame that he was made of glass and that this made him half the player he could have been. He looked amazing alongside Suarez in that title chasing year.....i prefer to remember that year than all of the others! :bandit:

Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he was forced into selling former Liverpool playmaker Phillipe Coutinho.
The German boss revealed how he wanted to keep the Brazilian international at Anfield subject to Barcelona interest, a move which the 27-year-old wanted to make at the time.

Speaking at the Sports Bild Awards as quoted byGianluca Di Marzio, Klopp claimed Coutinho was a player that he would have never had sold if he didn’t have to.

“A player of absolute substance,” he said.
“I had him at Liverpool and I would never have sold him if I wasn’t forced to.”

Coutinho made 201 appearances for Liverpool during his spell in the Premier League, scoring 54 goals and adding an impressive 45 assists on top of that, and recently completed a move to Bayern Munich.

OPINION

There is no doubting the fact that Coutinho was world-class during his spell at Liverpool, but he hasn’t reached the same heights since he left Anfield at the beginning of 2018. The fact that Barcelona have already sanctioned an exit for the Brazilian to move to Germany only proves that they expected so much more of him. The 27-year-old was involved in 99 goals for the Reds, and could only manage 22 goals and 11 assists at the Spanish giants. Klopp might not realise it, but he was involved in a masterstroke when sanctioning an exit for Coutinho. The playmaker only averaged 2 shots on goal per game last season and completed a poor 0.9 key passes each outing according toWhoScored– two stats that were drastically better at Liverpool where he averaged 2.9 key passes per game. Liverpool benefitted massively from the sale of Coutinho, and currently are the only winners from that deal, whether they know it or not.

"Involved in", what does that mean - goals and assists only?
99 in 201 games for us. 33 in 76 for Barca. Not a massive difference.

Output figures have to be much higher in Spain because they get to play against cannon fodder most weeks

Mohamed Salah insists he is happy at Liverpool following claims from Manchester United legend Gary Neville that he will leave the club. The Egyptian has lit up the Premier League since his arrival at Anfield from Roma for what has proven to be a bargain £37million transfer fee. Salah – who was at Chelsea before joining Roma – has occasionally been linked with a move to the likes of Real Madrid but Neville expressed his belief the 27-year-old will depart the club within 12 months. He told The Debate: ‘Salah’s going to leave in the next 12 months, I can see it already.

Who has left and not regretted it? Even Suarez only has as many Champions Leagues and Super Cups as Trent. But Trent has a mural too.

German newspaper Bild have claimedthat Bayer Leverkusen are looking to sign Dejan Lovren on a season-long loan from Liverpool this summer – and are willing to splash a considerable loan fee for the defender.

A move to AS Roma has seemingly fallen through for 30-year-old Lovren, who managed just 13 Premier League appearances for Liverpool’s senior side last season. It is believed Liverpool wanted as much as £26million for his signature.
TBR’s view – Liverpool need cover at CB, Lovren should stay
Sepp van der Berg was the club’s only summer signing but still only 17 years of age, Liverpool must continue to nurture the Dutchman’s progression without throwing him in at the deep end.

It means the Reds must do all they can to keep a hold of Lovren, in order to keep that top-quality, proven back-up in case one of van Dijk, Gomez or Matip are either injured or suspended throughout what promises to be another difficult campaign.

If its a Loan they can all **** off.

Stump up the money or do one.

I think its Can plus money. Everyone knows they need money for Neymar.
Which makes Juves end even worse, cause they're giving money for a 31yr old as well as a 25yr old.

Doesn’t explain why Barca would accept that deal though. They need money so why accept a player who you don’t need/want and have to pay extra wages for

Can can’t get into the Juve team, he’s not gonna get into the Barca team. Especially not the way they play as he’s not mobile enough and good enough with the quick intricate play.

Well you'd assume that since they're losing a CM in Rakitic that would open a space for Can, who is probably on a lesser wage. Leaving more money for Neymar.

But I agree I can't see Barca really wanting Can, unless they are desperate to get Neymar and this is the only way to raise the money, since the Coutinho ship has sailed.

We seem he’ll bent on offloading Lovren. It’s madness. Sepp VdB is not ready at all and has demonstrated this in the couple of u23 games already this season - if he can’t show he’s ready there, he sure as hell won’t be ready for the PL......I just don’t get it.
