Manchester United have held talks over the signing of Tottenham target Ryan Sessegnon but the £40m-rated Fulham star is desperate to join Liverpool, according to the Express.
Sessegnon has emerged as one of the hottest properties in British football since breaking into the Fulham first team in 2016 and he played a key role in helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League last season.
The 18-year-old made 35 appearances this campaign – providing two goals and six assists – but it wasn’t enough to save Fulham from relegation straight back down to the Championship after they finished 19th in the table.
Sessegnon is now fully expected to leave Craven Cottage for a bigger club this summer and
Sky Sports News claim that Manchester United have opened talks with Fulham over a potential deal for the England U21 international.
The news outlet says that Tottenham are also among the clubs who’ve been strongly linked with Sessegnon and Mauricio Pochettino may view the versatile wide-man as a potential replacement for Danny Rose – who’s been tipped to leave Spurs this summer.
However,
Sky Sports claim that United are the only club to have made formal contact with Fulham to open negations so it seems the Manchester giants have stolen a march on their rivals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is gearing-up for a busy summer as he looks to overhaul the squad he inherited from Jose Mourinho after finishing sixth in the table this season and he’s reportedly looking to sign young players who can develop further rather than established stars so Sessegnon fits the bill perfectly.
Xherdan Shaqiri could be on his way out of Liverpool, according to a piece published in the
Daily Mail.
Assessing all of the top-six’s potential transfer business this summer, when it came to the Reds, usual names like Ryan Kent, Simon Mignolet and Daniel Sturridge all cropped up, which is probably fair enough, but Shaqiri was also listed as a potential one to depart.
Curiously, Adam Lallana, who was this morning linked with a
move back to Southampton for a cut-price fee, was not on the list, perhaps showing the list was not that comprehensive.
