But if keepers were judged on singular matches or singular mistakes then maybe MU would be looking for a new one after De Gea's WCPerhaps, but not necessarily. He might think that the only keepers available aren't enough of an improvement, and that those who are are just way over-priced.
I honestly can't see how anyone can justify a team with our aspirations going into a new season with Karius as no.1. I felt as sorry for the guy as anyone in the aftermath of the CL final, but we can't build a team around sentiment. He might be strong enough to overcome that disaster, but equally he might fall apart when the pressure builds again. How can we take that risk?

Or has a silly hairdo and fluorescent teeth. As long as he's not too short and/or too fat![]()

He isn't being judged on one game.
Not by me he isn't.Well, he is. Maybe not by everyone but certainly some. He improved a lot last season and people were actually getting behind him until that final.
Yes, I wasn't hearing to many complaints re. Karius before the CL finalWell, he is. Maybe not by everyone but certainly some. He improved a lot last season and people were actually getting behind him until that final.
Not by me he isn't.
He improved to a level of ok-ness from a very low starting point for a keeper at our level. I support all our players, but that doesn't preclude me from offering a critique when I think it's necessary.
I repeat, he might be able to rebuild from here, but equally he might not. We shouldn't be taking that risk, imo.
You weren't listening to the right people.Yes, I wasn't hearing to many complaints re. Karius before the CL final
I said that I'm not. How can I speak for anyone else?Agreed he wasn't at the level required but he was improving. At just 24, he's got plenty of time to develop further. Plenty of other keepers that are better than him out there too though.
However, that wasn't the point. The point was the reaction from the final. Simple yes or no answer... do you think some have judged him purely on that final?
Actually the match going, merchandise buying fans have probably paid for all the keepersNone of us are, the club pays for keepers![]()

Nothing I've seen of Alisson has convinced me he's worth it.
He has never convinced me that he will be a reliable GK at the top level. He rarely holds shots, seems to struggle to pick the flight of shots , his distribution can and does lead to dangerous situations. I never saw this big improvement in his play just better protection and in relation to Mignolet a much better GK at crosses and sweeper/keeper situations.Yes, I wasn't hearing to many complaints re. Karius before the CL final
oh sorry sir <doffs cap>in fairness when there's no option or a possibility of an option there is no point hammering on annoying yourself and everyone else.
now there is a transfer window is the time to say we need to replace karius.
I think he's just pointing out that those of us who were unconvinced about Karius didn't bang on about it all the time when there was nothing to be done.oh sorry sir <doffs cap>
