I'd rather finish top 4 than win the LC. I'm normally all for the trophies because football is about trophies, but if Chelsea win LC and finish 5th and LFC win nothing but finish 4th, think most would say we've had a better season. Especially as we have to have CL football to be able to compete with Chelsea & two Manchester teams.

No one really cares about the LC, it's timing, the fact that most teams throw it easly with reserve and youth teams and it only gets you into the EL
So the extra £2m and a second crack at qualifying for the CL is better than actually winning something?
Football is no longer the game i know :(

4th gets you CL which get you £60m+ more than it does in EL, attracts better players and allows you to develop squad depth, especially for us where we can't afford 200k a week and have to sell them on CL football.

Like I said, i'm normally one for trophies over league position, however LC doesn't mean anything to anyone anymore

and whilst that is a debate i've conceded in what i wrote to Astro that top 4 is better than a LC.

Hence i said order of importance in terms of successful season in our wager:

CL, Top 4, FA cup, League Cup

4th gets you an extra crack at qualifying for CL :emoticon-0100-smile

If you really think a player moves to a club for 4/5 years on the strength of them qualifying for the CL one year then you really need to re-think it. Players use that excuse when they need to leave a club without looking a ****, did you see them all flocking to Leicester?

  • Finishing above the other team in the PL usually wins.
  • Finishing 1 place below but winning the FA Cup is better, so long as you both have (or don't have) CL. For 4th place this wouldn't be [HASHTAG]#nailedon[/HASHTAG] so you'd have to wait until the qualifier to know if the FA Cup was worth it.
  • Winning the CL beats everything.
  • The League Cup is irrelevant.

4th gets you automatic CL from this season onwards..

And you're 2nd point reiterates my point. CL football helps get you CL football the next year and next year and next year... if you don't get CL football then you stand less chance the year after, especially in the EL as most teams struggle to do well in league with EL so unless you win it (which is clearly feasible).

We got CL for first time in a while this year, it prob helped us get Salah to be fair and maybe even VVD with the extra tv money. If we get it again for next year then that's 2 in a row and will again allow us to compete with Spurs/Arsenal and similar level teams across Europe (Dortmund, Atletico etc) in terms of attraction for players (even more so compared to the London factor teams) and money available for fees and wages.

Bet we have a better season than you still.

Winner of CL is obviously best, then CL qualification, then FA cup then League Cup.

Bobby... what if you end up with drinkwater... barkely... and Carroll... what then

No - I rate Firmino primarily because of his goals, assists, game intelligence and creativity.

Then I look at his work rate. <ok>
