You lads need to ..... well.... just see that none of this is about power or anything of the sort. It's about honesty and professionalism. A) if you sign a contract you should be prepared to honour it. B) if you say no no dont want to then you still have to honour what you have signed before. C) if you sit down and discuss future in June and say yeah, yeah I love it.. yes and let your club off planning that way don t be shocked that when you turn round and act like players have that you don't get what you want. I'm sure that next year coutinho will go. No bother. No point holding him once you have 12 month to plan the exit. He and his little gang don't seem to get this basic tenant of being professionals. If you don't get that now the chances of success at Barca are frankly low.
Yeah.. Barca dont have magic money to enable the pay off. The only difference between coutinho and vvd is vvd says he told his club he wanted to go while coutinho told his club he didn't. We could not replace him in the market given the timing while Southampton just didn't want to. The difference between lfc and Barca is we listened to his club and said fair enough. There's enough evidence surrounding stage management of bids and transfer requests that barca were far dirtier. Finally... how the club's deal with it from now will define success or failure of policy.
I think contracts will change in light of what has happened recently, I can see players going for 3 year contracts other than 5-6 years so that they have some control over them leaving to another club.
Emre Can still hasn't signed I can see him agreeing a move away in January. Looks like Keita will be his replacement other than his midfield partner. Can is looking better and better with every game we are going to lose a huge talent on a free.
Wenger highlighted this already four years contract should mean four years. The only problem is that clubs may not be able to sell the player if the player do not want to leave.
Bloody germans for you. Think just have to resign ourselves to fact he's pro gone in summer unless we get replacement in Jan and someone wants him on cheap then. Shame me because he's started to find some consistency recently.
I agree on contract length. Players at different levels want different things. What age are they and do forth. If an agent puts a 6 year deal in front of a player he must absolutely not care about that player in terms for future revenue. When you are 23 or 28 you will probably do different things
Think might see a lot more people running contracts down and big transfers only taking place for players with a year or so left. Clubs cant keep justifying paying £70m for a player just because they have 5 years of contract left. Your value has almost become 50% your quality and 50% length of contract left.
It's not a shock for me anyway.... if top top club is sniffing players listen. Lfc are right now potentially tier 2 which is actually an improvement for us. Klopp needs to deliver min 4th this year for us to continue to come back. Oh and fsg need to build that stand.. get bloody on with it
Unless he's playing to justify the wage he wants then yes he's gone, I don't get it though we're in the CL and have some good players with more on the way why does he want away so much?
Yeah I agree.this has to change... coutinho example to everyone is agree release clause or no deal. Vvd example is similar but dont ****ing sign that deal at all. He had no intent staying do not was naive to sign as Southampton knew he would not stay but got away with a super long deal for no wages
The TV money gave clubs power again, they had a large sum of money that meant they didn't need to cash in on players, this will change again though.
C'mon.... A. Juventus. B. Juve in final, we may not even be in it next year. C. Juve won league 5 years in row? D. Free = mega mega deal. E. Italian tax is a joke. He will be on more that we could offer before tax here but after tax there. F. Germans like to move around.
yup. It will not be long before rather than seeing a vvd bidding war to Southampton advantage we are going to see some player having 5 or 6 clubs all over them while their current club has to join the queue or try find a new player. There is NO advantage to signing a new contract. A player can even tell his club that they are invited to bid along with other clubs and hold a bidders conference where they outline the size of mansion and plane, etc they need to join.
Juve big club constantly challenging for trophies domestically and getting to later stages in Europe. Plus prob get nice big signing on fee
I could but none of them are as attractive are they? What is there to say hey I will turn juve down to sign with a club up against city and Utd. I don't see him headed for atletico btw.... just saying.
