Where's the backtrack?
They will be back for Coutinho next season (after putting the seed in his head now) so they can train him up as a replacement for Iniesta.
I have said this many times, if they could have kept hold of Neymar they would have paid the asking price for Coutinho to keep him happy this year and also gain time to train Coutinho as Iniesta's replacement.
As it is, Neymar has gone so they no longer feel the need to pay friendship prices at the moment but have set the idea in Coutinhos head to fester for a year so they can make their play when they want him
You get worse.

Can Rejects New Contract with Juventus Circling, Leipzig Admit They Can’t Keep Keita

Should Liverpool make a move for Tottenham's Danny Rose?

Liverpool could afford to double Rose's £65,000 per week wages and make him feel valued - and while Rose says he wants to win trophies, which Liverpool haven't in recent years, Jurgen Klopp may be able to get him to buy in.

Rose admitted in his interview it is his desire to play up north, and Liverpool tick nearly every box on and off the pitch.

Having been willing to pay mega money to land Virgil van Dijk or Naby Keita and failing, Liverpool could pay the fee required to sign Rose.

Doing so would suddenly be a big statement of intent.

Neymar's sensational move to Paris-Saint Germain should act as a warning sign to Barcelona that Lionel Messi's eye-watering reported €300 million release clause could be met, says Jurgen Klopp.

Despite the lack of new signings, Klopp insists he's had “100% backing” from the owners. He wants quality rather than quantity and it's been his decision not to pursue alternative options to either Keita or van Dijk.
Unlike the summer of 2014, the money Liverpool have spent this summer certainly looks like it's been invested wisely.
Salah has been a revelation following his arrival from Roma. His blistering pace will add an extra attacking dimension to the Reds.
Cast aside by Chelsea, the Egypt international looks ready to grasp his second shot at gracing the Premier League.

Juventus 'to offer £23million' for Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can
Can has less than a year remaining on his current contract and negotiations between player and club have made no progress over the sum

The RS Echo are regurgitating the Nationals gossip columns, Spurs have apparently set their ceiling at £25m for Ross, and that's somehow been translated into Evertons price.

Koeman has said today that there's been no offers, and if no offer comes in that the club feels is the right value for the player, then he'll stay as part of the first team squad.

There have <doh>

I see the press gave sunk into spurs yoday claiming rise is a hero to their player...

Obviously some of the oress dont want spurs to suceed

Whether Southampton's stance would change if Van Dijk holds firm & an offer of £60m or more comes in remains to be seen. (@adamleitchsport)

Reading in between the lines but this suggests £60m is enough.

I have said all along he was only an expensive friend, Barca have just played a game with you because they were never going to pay the kind of price you wanted.
You are now left with a player thinking "what if" and they have moved to serious business.
Believe me, if it had meant Neymar staying they would have paid a lot more than they offered.

Lol offering £90m for someone to befriend Neymar. You're funny :)

I'm guessing Barca wanted Dembele more because he's a more natural like for like replacement for Neymar. And Coutinho isn't really a priority at the moment. Plus they know they can get him next year.

But then again, maybe you're right - Neymar needed a friend :)

And also - you do realise that Barca are in a mini financial crisis. They will receive £200m but half of that will be taxed. So how will they afford both Coutinho and Dembele this summer?
