This is exactly where we should be. He's about to enter imo his best years....I think he's the same age as Suarez when we bought him...his value will not decline. If it does, it will be relative in that his replacements value will also decline. One more year and we still have him on a four year contract! So keep him. If FSG cave in without a plan for spending the money (wisely), they will deserve all of the derision that they receive.
We paid him to remove his 40mil buy out clause that apparently was badly written and insert apparently a 75mil except it was 65mil one. Coutinho has no such clause we were told so... that job is done. I don't think we need sweeten his life to make him play.
£5m now will be worth more than £5m in 2/3 years though through inflation and just generally fact transfers are going up.
What, even when you were allegedly "known" to be skint a week before and still have to replace a WC player as well as improving the previous tears squad? Behave, they now have to replace Neymar with similar quality (hard enough in itself) whilst trying to make the team even better after last years slight decline. It will cost a lot more than £200m.
No, it WAS £75m, but Barca knocked it down because of the ban but agreed to say it was £75m. Then they issued a statement saying how much they respected us but, tee, hee, hee, we only paid £65m and they paid the agent's fees'. And Wikileaks confirmed last year that this was true.
Just checked FSG's sports network site, not only isn't there a mention they've dropped LFC from their top of the page banner.
You've convinced me - they're having a hard time. Let them have Ford for £72m and stop thinking of that £200m in their bank account. Not.
Is all this about wanting to use Man Utd's world record debt to beg for discounts, or are you offering to give your best players to poor teams for heavy discounts because football is all about clubs helping each other out?
Been here before feller, and you're going round in circles. We've walked away from both deals unless we're invited back. You're comparing apples and pears again.
My fear is that they would see retaining Coutinho as enough to keep us little ants sweet and buy **** all else... That will also not be good enough for me
Unless he gets injured and never quite gets it back or another few players suddenly spring to the fore this season. High value transfers are always a risk from both sides, will a player be as good next year, will he be as good in another team/league. I suppose at some point you have to make a decision to stick or bust on both sides.
Can someone kick me if Barca man up and offer a real bid. I'm off for a kip. Does anyone know who the equivalent of balotelli is this year? I need to get jh know who to go get. I'm looking for a man man with no redeeming features here, someone about 20 percent of fans can be deluded enough to think they might work out while the rest can only rock in a corner screaming not again over and over...... You know the sort....
We're clearly tracking replacements and have been since this broke. When do Barca not get their man. It's a matter of time. Potentially bringing in a couple of big players then? For one we'll surely offer Southampton an offer they can't refuse and still have about 80mil to get a midfielder in. FSG would have to reinvest it surely? They know they'd be outrage if they didn't. #optimism
Well d'uh. By that logic we need to sell Mane quick because we never know if he'll get injured. And salah. And... well everyone, really.
