jeez Jim since the 3 will cost in the region of £170m & will be our 3 most expensive transfers ever i should ****ing hope so - though can see Salah being rotated.
i still struggle to believe we have this much money to spend without some serious sales which will impact on our already thin squad.
So much money in the premiership: if we can spend between £M150-M240 on four to six players I know John Henry is serious.
We do not need to play catch up anymore, if we want to be serious contenders.

A former member of the same Southampton FC Youth team that included Alan Shearer has spoken about how he has been told that a move to St Mary's for Phillipe Coutinho is close.

Philippe Coutinho is set to move to Southampton as part of a complex swap deal that would see Virgil Van Dijk move in the other direction according to a former team mate of Alan Shearer in the Saints youth team set up of 1986.

John Lireman who claimed he once shared a dressing room with Alan Shearer in the mid 80's before leaving the game to become a Sattelite dish installer made the claims on a Southampton fans message board on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, Liverpool star Lucas Leiva is involved in talks with Lazio. The midfielder’s future at Anfield is in doubt after he was reportedly not offered a new deal by manager Jurgen Klopp.

So basically we know that Klopp wants two particular players. we know we tapped one up and bid on the other failing initially on each. this aligns with ITK saying cm and CB as far back as May.

Thus I think the main question to be answered next in preseason is what kind of set up is klopp aiming for from his players

LFC Attacking assets.. Firmino, salah, mane with coutinho passing to them. sturridge is odd man out.

LFc midfield assets: lallana wijnaldum can henderson. We really do need that bit of quality here. Keita will mix this up so if he comes i really don't knwo who drops out.

LFC defence assets: Clyne, TAA(going to be big season) Matip, Lovren.... milner. We are really short of bodies here. the rest are journeymen at the level we wish to be at.

LFC GK assets: Mingolet and Karius... with ward as the developing lad who can be sold for profit :) this is ok but many will question this compared to others.

I think Over past 3 summers we have developed that attacking line one player at a time. Its not too bad is it? Pace to get behind and a passer to get the ball to them. work rate is there, high press is there etc etc

Really adding the two guys klopp really wants will add to our team but IMO we will be about 2/3 players short of the full deck at that point. the good thing will be that forward line are all 25. thats matrued but yuong and have 3/4 years there.

Midfield of say kieta, can, henderson and wijnaldum.. those are 22,23,27 and 26 respectively... again good mix but nobody that old

Defence of clyne, matip, vvd and say robertson would again be 26,25,26,23 again yuong and development possible

Over all if we bought those three we would have a first 11 to develop and mature and then have a bench with sturridge, woodburn, lovren, taa, lallana, can/henderson, karius.

we do need that 2/3 players robertson being the LB we are linked with then 2 more guys, another defender of some sort and I think either a CM or another wide man.

Overall... its waiting time. watch the preseason games come thick and fast and let this stuff happen if its going to happen.

Then we buy Coutinho for £60m and Southampton get to pretend to their fans they stood up to us on VD

The deal is happening. It's just taking time to get everything right. Definitely happening though imo.

News of the Keita bid broke via Bild on Thursday night, but it is understood the bid was submitted days in advance. (@MelissaReddy_)

Further indication that the local press aren't really in the loop anymore. Guinean media reported this on Monday I believe. Bild yesterday.
