Well.... I have to say.... If salah can have the same impact as he's had in italy on the prem from LW we have lots of options with firmino playing no 9 and mane and salah running beyond him towards goal with pace

If say we move coutinho to a no 8 and maintain 10 goals a year out of him and get say 15 goals a man form the others thats pretty ok stuff... its me more than we ended up with this year.

mane got 13 and firmino 12. I think mane wuld have got 15 if not injured anyway and aCON was deffo restrictive.

In the end anyone is added depth.. if they work out.

More than anything, gives us lots of options. As you say, can drop Cout deep, play diff teams for diff games etc. Offers nice pace which without Mane we were actally really missing. Yeah AFCON might be issue, but that's 2 years away, if we're still reliant on 2 players in 2 years then we're really screwed anyway

yeah we've proven time and again we need pace and running in behind IF he does that.

In the end the main question is CM are with coutinho, lallana and wijnaldum all being in effect vying for same role. would two of them work with a holding player?

its going to be interesting anyway.

Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Reds lodge bid for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli?
Liverpool have had a £36.7m offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly rejected.

The Reds are happy to splash out on the highly rated centre-back, with funds put aside to offer £54,000-a-week on a five-year deal, according to the Daily Express.

Koulibaly has been a long term target of Chelsea - who attempted to lure him to the club with a £53m offer last week.

The Senegal international made 38 appearances for Napoli last season, with the Seri A club desperate to keep hold of their star man.

Koulibaly signed from Belgian side Genk for £6.5m in 2014.

So sadly what appears to be happening is that we just cannot land targets.
we may be identifying possible targets but then for whatever reaon we cant land them.
In fairness only City, United and Chelsea seem to be able to land the top end players effectively & efficiently.

What is extra strange this close season is that generally everywhere we turn clubs appear to be holding english clubs in particular to ransom.

This is no dig at the 3 clubs mentioned, in fact it is more of a mild jealousy that they have the ability to get the job done. The two Manchester clubs command such power in the market it is quite scary (not quite there yet but it is getting to the point where they are commanding similar power to the two spanish giants)

They appear to be able to by whoever they want, if any of those three had wanted Salah the deal would have been completed almost immediately - they would possibly have paid 5m more. However the ability to just buy whoever they want is very worrying to me as an LFC fan. Our protracted chase of Salah is beyond ridiculous now and a little bit embarrassing. The 5m we save will be counter balanced by impressionwe are sending out as a club.
That is withstanding the VVD deal !

Utd bought Pogba same as Real spent heavily on James Rodriguez and many thought they had overpaid, but the signal they sent out was, we wanted a player - we got the player.

I am not saying we are in the wrong or that the other clubs have it right but I think we are looking in different bins to the big clubs and have a totally different strategy to buying players.

It will take a lot of blind faith from us as fans to trust our model. We appear to be looking for bargains in the hope of turning them from zero to hero. In this respect i really worry about our upcoming season.

Mohamed Salah set to arrive in England?
So reports in Egypt last night claimed that Mohamed Salah is to arrive in England at five past nine this evening.
It is claimed that Salah will jet to Heathrow from Cairo to complete a move to Liverpool.
The Reds and Roma have been locked in negotiations for the best part of two weeks, with no fee yet agreed.

The plan seems to be that if you offer less than other clubs then they will come?

Of course you worry about your own club more but if you pay attention Man Utd have been [HASHTAG]#snubbed[/HASHTAG] by almost everyone, and pointing to their ability to get totally mugged over Pogba doesn't help

Most deals that have been announced so far is basically because the buying club has been so mugged that the sellers were happy to snatch the money while it was there

There's no reason to think the minor delay (but still before the window even opens) for the Salah deal isn't simply Roma trying to get his replacement lined up before they let one of their best players go for non-mugging money

Egyptian airline join in with Mohamed Salah saga as ‘forward is expected in Liverpool today’
Read more at http://www.squawka.com/news/egyptia...in-liverpool-today/961395#lxUpHvM9zkh92H9y.99
Mohamed Salah‘s projected move to Liverpool has taken another turn after airline EgyptAir tweeted a message of thanks to the Roma winger for flying with them.
The message, sent on Monday evening, was quickly deleted by the commercial aviation company but not before screenshots were grabbed and shared across social media.

Wouldn't be surprised if Salah operates from the right and Mane switches to the left...

Think Firmino is Klopp's preferred choice as false 9 because he will occupy defenders and create space for the wide men.

Coutinho in CM would be rather sexual.

The only concern that i have is that whilst Salah's numbers are impressive, he got a large number of goals from playing as a second striker, and not as a winger.

Will be interesting to see if he can post similar numbers from a wider position.

Interesting. I agree with a lot of what you say and yes City will buy whoever they want and if it was Salah it would be done by now.

We need to buy at least 3 players and if we are looking at the likes of the players mentioned by the media then we will need to be a little careful with money.

I don't agree with "looking for bargins" the targets so far are certainly not that, we are looking at quality.
