We can can get in the right striker and midfielders in this summer and all goes well next season, then we can look at that extra winger/play maker to fine tune and strengthen every where. Looking at my team I'd even wonder if another attacking LB like Moreno should be signed because Enrique is always injured. flanagan and Manquillo dont attack at the same level.
If we were going to spend a large amount on one player I'd prefer it to be either a striker or a dominant central midfielder, either way they would have to be a quality partly established player that is going to hit the ground running, can't be paying that much for potential. RE; Fullbacks. There is a inbalance with us having two attack minded players for LB and two defensive minded players for RB. Wisdom is to come in too but he's also defensive rather than attacking.
Fentway sport believes in buying reasonably and not over the odds.I am not sure the would invest over £M43 on unproven player.
I suppose if we need to go more defensive on the left at any time we could play Flanagan or Manquillo on the left. But if Moreno gets injured we are stuck with either to defensive, or what for some games would be to attacking (Ibe or Markovic).
They have always said they would for the right player. But I think Andy Carroll has scared them a bit there.
Kovacic being linked with arsenal on the gossip pages after inter potentially being up for selling him. Could be another countiho.... Top young player.
Danilo turns down new Porto deal Brazilian ace Danilo has rejected a new contract offer at Porto as speculation surrounding his long term future continues. This has been reported by the Mirror, who have suggested that some of Europe's biggest clubs have been put on alert by his failure to extend his current deal with the Portuguese outfit. INTEREST In fact, as many as three clubs have been credited with interest in his signature, with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid all seemingly in the race to land him in the near future. The report from the Mirror has in fact claimed that Porto want to offer the 23-year-old a deal that would keep him at the club until 2017, while putting in place a buy-out clause worth £40 million. However, it appears that his long term future could lie away from Estadio do Dragao, but it remains to be seen as to whether the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Co. step up their interest in the player anytime soon. http://www.givemesport.com/549403-d...ium=Organic-Social&utm_campaign=Tribute-Pages
There are a ton of decent players with contracts ending or not resigning this year. I think FFP has in effect, capped salaries to some degree at all but the biggest clubs and players are potentially looking to benefit from attractive signing on fees instead of the extract £30k or so per week...... Can't help but feel that at least a couple will end up at Anfield......allowing us to bid big for one/two very good signings. That assumes we get CL. If not, it'll be free signings only and kids only. The uncertainty about CL qualification must have a major effect on our transfer strategy....in effect, we will have to have 2 plans until the point that we know where we will finish.......I hope the transfer committee are being very busy right now!
it'll be a very competitive game. Some interesting odds on Sky: Liverpool to score in first 10 minutes 6/1 Utd to score in first 10 minutes 8/1 Liverpool to be awarded a penalty 5/1 Utd to be awarded a penalty 7/1 Coutinho to score from outside of the penalty area 8/1 Herrera to score from outside of the area 16/1 To come from behind and win: LFC 10/1 Utd 14/1 Sturridge and Rooney are both 40/1 to score a hat trick and 8/1 & 9/1 respectively to score a brace. Was looking for a price for a red card but they didn't have it. Reckon that there may well be one in this game Think I'll have a tenner on those in bold.
Last summers transfer market was pretty poor and tough to work in. But this summer looks quite promising.
We didn't have a CL plan last summer despite it being obvious we were going to get CL fairly early on lol
Or maybe we did....which begs the question who would we have bought had we not qualified tbh, I think the whole Suarez thing threw us last year.....and when everyone on the planet knows you have a big lump of cash burning a hole in your pocket, sometimes things are more difficult!
Everyone on here predicted he'd go......although BR is on record saying that he thought he'd stay another year as we'd qualified for CL....even Stevie G said as much.... Who knows the truth....perhaps every single player we bought had been planned in detail knowing we would have tons of cash!
I thought he'd go but I did say there would be more chance of him staying if we didn't win the league because he'd then have unfinished business. However, the moment he broke down crying after the Chelsea game confirmed it for me #missedchance
When we didn't have CL going into last season we were targeting Costa, Henri Ryan & Willian.... then we got CL and went for Lambert, Lovren & Lallana... Maybe it's best we don't get CL and actually target some players like Firminio, Lacazette & Pjanic rather than get CL and end up targeting Clyne, Deplh & Ings
