His work rate is underrated because the focus is on his quality on the ball. Same as Coutinho. When the first thing you praise a player for is their work rate, then you have a limited player.
Work rate is a must in today's game. Unless you're Zlatan.....then you can stroll around, let others try to do your work and wonder why haven't scored yet.

Work rate is so necessary that it should be the norm. Therefore if the only thing that you can praise is work rate, then he's probably right. One things for sure, whether you're Sturridge, aguero, you can't get away with strolling about, regardless of how good you are. Zlatan is older to be fair and he's a big lump. He was never going to be that mobile and for that reason, he'll be toast soon enough. Talent without hard work is no longer good enough.
I think you have the wrong idea of what I am saying here, I think work rate is on par with skill. The thing I was pointing out in my reply to Jimmy is that ability seems to have taken second place to work rate in the case of Sturridge.
I got it I agree with both of you really. Work rate is a must, almost like a gateway to the team. Nobody wants to be know as just a hard worker....and indeed, if that's all you have in your locker, then you are a limited player.....everyone remember the sublime and talent wins games......while a lack of hard work loses it. Fortunately, in our front 3, we have both. Those who don't are not starting in our front 3.
