Divock Origi: Liverpool and Lille hold talks over striker's return
Liverpool have held talks with Lille over the possibility of Divock Origi moving to Anfield this month.
The striker, 19, joined the Reds in a £10m deal last year but was loaned back to the French club for this season.
"There has been some discussion but there is nothing to report," Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said. "The agreement was for him to stay there so we will see how that works.
"If not we have the players here and we will go with what we have got."
Liverpool are light in attack, with Daniel Sturridge a long-term injury absentee and Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert delivering just four goals between them.
    Rodgers on Balotelli
Balotelli has been linked with a move away from Anfield this month but Rodgers, whose side travels to Aston Villa this weekend, has ruled that out.
"Mario is a good guy and he's not scored the goals he or we would have wanted," he said.
"But we are determined to help him find the solution here so he certainly won't be going anywhere in January."
Rodgers on Steven Gerrard loan deal
Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre says it is "conceivable" Steven Gerrard could return to the club on loan following his move to Los Angeles Galaxy.
"I have nothing more to say on the situation. Steven is still very much at the club so I'm not speculating on when he comes back after leaving."
    Rodgers on Daniel Sturridge's fitness
Sturridge has not played since the end of August due to injury.
"He's not ready to play as of yet, but he's working well, so hopefully in the near future he'll be ready. He's back in the final stages of his rehab here at the club, but there is no time on it yet."

  3. Manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the possibility of 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva leaving Liverpool during the current transfer window. (Times - subscription required)

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has refused to dismiss speculation linking him with moves for Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis, 29, and 28-year-old Liverpool defender Jose Enrique. (Daily Star)

Gonzalo Higuain's brother and agent insists he has not spoken to Liverpool and claims the 27-year-old Argentina striker is happy at Napoli. (Daily Mail)

Fabio Borini says he has no regrets about staying at Liverpool and has insisted: "I still believe I can be a success here." (Liverpool Echo)

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has described 25-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge's recovery as "critical" for the Reds but the manager warned the striker needs time to recapture last season's devastating form following a spate of injuries.(Guardian)

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina knows how to command a five-man defence. But how about five kids? Well, he's about to find out after tweeting the arrival of his fifth child on Thursday morning. The Spain international called it "one of the happiest days of my life". Presumably he can point to four others.

Looks like another **** window. to be honest though, given our recent dealings, it's not a bad thing. Would rather us bring back the likes of Origi and Ibe then spend £25 on berahino or £15m or whatever on Delph <doh>

Juventus lodge an official bid for Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic according to Goal.com.

"The Serie A champions have offered a £2 million fee to take Jovetic on loan for the rest of the season, and would be obliged to pay a further £16.5m, spread over two annual instalments, for a permanent transfer.," they report.

Jovetic has scored 5 goals in 20 games for City this season.

Chelsea have loaned striker Islam Feruz to Blackpool until May.
The 19-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Greek Super League outfit OFI Crete, will spend the rest of the campaign with the relegation-threatened Championship side.
Tangerines boss Lee Clark said: "Islam is a very talented player with the potential to excite the fans."
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has also refused to rule out making any signings this month.
Liverpool are considering a swoop for Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro.
The Reds are struggling for goals and reports in Spain suggest the eight-cap France international has caught Brendan Rodgers' eye.
Gameiro, 27, has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract with Sevilla and the Spanish side are expected to demand at least £10m for his services.

Nothing like Aspas, in style, position and reputation. I've heard of Kevin Gameiro, used to play for PSG and was forced out because they got the silly money and bought players like Ibra and Cavani.
He's a fast striker who runs in behind the defence, similar to Sturridge.

£10m isn't bad, but I'd still be looking for better if we could.

Gameiro is a good player. Wouldn't mind him - haven;t tracked his progress since he moved to Spain though.

Saw Aspas on the telly playing for Sevilla the other day. Still looks the same, has that look of total cluelessness about him

And now we interrupt this with today's lies...

We're in for Sardar Azmoun, Alex Song and Mauro Icardi

Well, there don't appear to be many more new ones...

    We're still buying Delph
Balotelli and Borini and Lucas are still all staying

  17. We were strongly linked with Gameiro a couple of years ago whilst he was at PSG. He's gone off the radar a bit since then but he's no Aspas

He's made 10 appearances for Sevilla in the league this year, but only played a total of 314 minutes (total of 3 1/2 games) scoring 2 goals.

No chance a 27 year old sub forward with 2 goals is worth £10m

Wonder if we managed to get any money for him or just said have him for free now so we don't pay hi remaining wages

  20. Since he's under 24 we were due compensation so I hope we got something
