Agree that we need to have some strength in depth but Enrique is not good. Take away his ability to shield the ball, he offers very little. I know I'll laughed at, but Cissokho was actually a good defender - granted, he was dog sh*te on the ball but defensively, he was sound.
I think we need to put our eggs in the Lacazette shaped basket - it's a shame we didn't get him or go for him in the summer before he hit great form this season. Similar to the potential Costa deal. Without knowing the ins and outs of the negotiation process, it does feel like we could be a little more aggressive.
Noises from the Borini camp suggest he's going nowhere. I fear that this lad is screwing up our progress in getting the forwards we want in. Surely he knows that he has no future at LFC.....which basically means he wants a pay off or he'll hold us to ransom.
Borini is becoming quite a ****er. I wish he would just leave, he's had yet more chances to show us glimpses of promise, and he's not done a thing. He's not even in the "young with potential" camp anymore.
Agreed. We could have had £14m for him last year. Perhaps our striker aquisition would have been a little different had he gone...who knows. I now feel he's looking at his bank balance only. Don't think he cares about first team football one iota!
I don't blame Borini for wanting to fight for a place and effectively his career since he's only going to go downhill from his current position. Its the club that should be questioned. If we don't believe he is good enough then tell him. Don't be nice and say there is a offer available should he choose, be ruthless and tell him we've accepted a offer he should seriously consider taking because he as no future at our club.
There was quotes from the Liverpool camp in the summer that those who had no future at the club had been told in no uncertain terms. He's turned out to be a mercenary imo. Doesn't take a genius to know that the coach doesn't rate you anymore!
I rather Flanno to Enrique Lacazette - nah, I think he'll be around the £25m. He probs would have been around £16m last summer because he was still relatively unknown. If keeps up his great form, then he'll be in the same bracket as Suarez/Torres for when they signed for us - so £25m odd will be fair.
Not moving to Sunderland as their marquee signing has sent his career spiraling. and it was due to wages, let's be honest. He could have been a big fish in a small pond + really tried to make a name for himself in the prem (look at Wilfred Bony), but instead he took the slack option. BR told him he wouldn't get game time, and from what we've seen this season he doesn't deserve any. He's a red card waiting to happen and just doesn't fit.
To be honest, I think Borini simply thought a 'big' club like Inter would sign him, so I can't blame him for turning down Sunderland. But he needs to f*ck off now. A lot of deadwood at this club.
On Eurosport: Comment From Steve BREAKING NEWS: GONZALO HIGUAIN SEEN AT MELWOOD FOR A MEDICAL DUE THIS AFTERNOON AFTER THE PARTIES AGREED FOR A FEE OF £23.5M PLUS LUCAS LEIVA. HIGUAIN IS UNDERSTOOD TO HAVE ACCEPTED A CONTRACT OF 4 YEARS AND WAGES OF £135K A week. Anyone believe that in any way, shape or form?
In normal circumstances, he wouldn't have been given a chance. However, with our current crop of forwards, I'd say he should be given the chance but that's more a reflection of how **** we are rather than him deserving it.
