From what I've read from the Fulham forum they think Targett is excellent when attacking. They seem more concerned with his defending.

Targett has an excellent delivery with his left foot and can see when a pass is on.
I have never been over concerned with his defending simply because he was usually just filling in for a few games, so not always up to speed, yet didn’t, iirc, have too many bad games.

Targett was unlucky here....he broke through and then got side-lined by injury and then found it hard to break back in on a regular basis. He missed the opportunity to be the incumbent in his role....and therefore was always competing to be better than who was doing that job already. I'd have loved him to succeed and would be pleased to see him back (possibly for a sentimental desire to see 'our own' do well), but suspect that he won't get the opportunity....unless our money is going elsewhere and we need a back up (in that case if I was him I'd rather go where I was wanted). Wouldn't we have kept in close touch with him if we saw his loan as a development phase?

The problem with Targett in the PL is his pace, you really need to be quick nowadays to be a full back as it is all about getting forward and back. There is no point in having someone who has a brilliant delivery at full back if he can't get back if teams counter. You would have to play a very specific style where your CM is covering for him regularly and that would probably make your LB your main attacking outlet. I don't know if Fulham play this way, but when I have seen them it seems they keep possession for long spells and are a good footballing side. This enables the full backs to get forward as the team has comfortable possession, that won't be the case anywhere near as often in the PL I'd guess.

We have had two play makers: Tadic and Boufal. What we need is a system to use them to their best.

I’m not saying we don’t need a Shaqiri or another creative player, just that we need to find a way to get the best from them. Hughes started to do that with Tadic in the last 3 games.

I haven't seen anything from Boufal to suggest he is a playmaker. Game changer, maybe, but playmaker? The first thing a playmaker thinks of when he receives the ball is, how to bring others into play. Do you believe Boufal does that?

I'm not sure Tadic really fits that description either, much as I rate him. Because of the positions he takes up on the pitch, I'm not sure he's a playmaker - not in the sense of dictating the play, anyway. Easily our most creative player though.

Ok, for playmaker, I read Creative. Both are that.

One could argue then that a playmaker could be a defensive midfielder in the Schneiderlin mould.

I'll see if I can find out anything about the McQueen stuff, might be my first time ITK, how exciting.

A couple of people I play football with know Joe Bryan having played football with him throughout their youth, think one stil sees him pretty regularly, I'll see if he knows anything about him going first.

Well Joe Bryan is definitely off according to my mate who has apparently spoken to him, knows nothing about McQueen though. My ITK career was gash

Absolutely one could. A presence in midfield who can boss things a bit, turn defence quickly into atrack. Someone who can read the game and pick the pass that changes everything.

If there is one player among the many we have lost, who we haven't come close to replacing, it's Morgan.

...and Mane, but Mane is irreplaceable. Beats me how Liverpool fans don't recognise the enormity of his contribution to their (almost but not quite) success.

Lemina and Pierre have the potential to be very good, Lemina particularly needs more consistancy.

Can’t help you, except it’s called Transfer Rumours - Summer 2018 rather than Summer 2018 Transfer Rumours. The blue tab is fairly prominent on the page!
That's because they've been merged. That's why your thread is over 30 pages long now! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Nope. Not seeing it. I can only view it when I get a notification - I'm definitely not going insane am I?
