I think DDF was saying on the 'PinkUn app' this morning and suggesting that Oxborough could be sub GK to comply with the rules, as I believe there are only 8(well, late last night) players in the squad who meet the requirements!!
I'm not sure its a big problem. As long as the rules don't stipulate that you must have 8 in your starting XI then , 4-5 qualified players is enough to cover most position to a decent extent between the bench and the starting eleven. It does narrow options and i would expect the number to increase next season depending on the rules of the division we find our selves in. Bah!
I was at the game Saturday. IMO everyone in the middle of the park looked shot. Buendia and Pukki as well. They were 2nd to every loose ball and were sitting deeper and deeper, inviting pressure. They looked too tired to retain possession, hooking the ball away all the time, with no real direction. We have had a wonderful season so far but could have done with fresh legs on Sat. Im sure the players from the bench could have done that. Perhaps we weren't desperate for a new signing? I just thought it might have perked us up a bit and given us the spark to maintain our promotion push. It's great that we have players coming back from injury, just hope the likes of Mclean can make the impact we need. OTBC
I'm pretty sure that the minimum is 7!!! All the fans around me were screaming for some subs from about 75 minutes but we have done brilliantly so far. The signing of Heise (pronounced Heize) is excellent IMO and we appear to have got another bargain. I’m FAR happier that none of the first team squad have left!!!
Dan commentates on more German football than anything else, so inclined to hold a lot of store by what he has to say - maybe we should sign him as a scout?
He might be a wonderful player this Heise... but when is he going to play? Cant see him knocking Lewis out of LB or Hernandez from LW. He sounds like an excellent player and Id love to see him play but, short of injury, just not sure when he will get a chance?
I think there were similar comments about Trybull and perhaps Vrancic earlier in the season too. These injuries happen. I wondered if we'd see much of Zimmerman this year with Klose and Hanley in the side but hesh probably one of the first names on the sheet. He'll get his chance especially if he rips it up in training.
I'm sure Felix Passlack (and his parent club) have spent most of the season asking exactly the same question!
Like HMQC says, injuries will give him opportunities. Godfrey covered LB last time Jamal was out, having a proper LB in the squad will be advantageous. And then how knows? With Leitner approaching fitness, who would have thought he'd have a real battle to get back in the first XI? This transfer was previously arranged for the summer, just brought forwards for the benefit of both clubs and the player. With that in mind, getting Heise up to speed with Farke-ball, and lessons in English language and football, are the main aim for the rest of the season. He'll play if needed, but really he's targeting next season. Not knowing which league we'll be in, or whether Lewis will still be at the club, he could be first choice by August.
Good points there DHC. Chances are that if we are not promoted then possibly both Lewis and Aarons will be subject to bids from the Prem.
Aarons is reportedly on 'Spuds radar' and we've put a price tag of £15M on him. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-step-up-transfer-interest-13957237
This rumours been around for a while. If true by the time Spurs get round to making a bid he'll be worth more than 5m.
Aarons rumour persists. I can see him going for £15m as we are clearly a selling club. Alternatively, if we get promoted then he may want to stay and we won’t need the dosh so badly.
So, we are clearly a selling club? We will sell if needed, to balance the books, but this is just good business to keep us solvent. If we have no need to sell these YOUNG players, then I firmly believe they will stay with us. If Aarons were to go to Spurs, whatever the price, he would be third choice RB. Do you honestly think, whatever salary they offer him, an up and coming player would accept this scenario?
Potentially 4th choice RB with Trippier, Aurier (don’t rate him), Walker Peters all potentially in front of him
JM to Spuds seems to be gathering pace – probably around £40M. NO, I don’t believe we sold too cheaply. No way did we know if he could make the step up and he was injured.
Absolutely, it happens time and again. A few factors at play: lots more money Offer of playing in the PL lots more money Belief in themselves the buying manager blows hot air up em and gives them the belief they'll play Lots more money Short career, could be injured next October and lots more money Bah!
