Agreed. Seems highly unlikely. Looks somewhat out of our reach.

I also think that any business we do will be rather more secretive. When was the last time we heard a rumour that turned into a signing? They seem very adept at keeping things quiet until actual unveiling, maybe with the exception of Rhodes, that was rumoured and dragged on, mainly I suspect as SW tried to entice other suitors to enter into a bidding war.

    Bah!

Chelsea recall Baker from Leeds, and look to loan him to a Rival Championship club. He made 14 appearances, mainly from the bench.

Ampadu loan bid from Derby rejected by Chelsea.

Canaries discussing new deal with young star Cantwell <yikes>
Norwich City are understood to be relaxed about academy starlet Todd Cantwell’s contract situation despite negotiations proving difficult.Talks are under way with the creative midfielder, whose deal at Carrow Road expires in the summer, about extending his deal with the Canaries. The club are expected to take up an option to extend his current terms by another 12 months but are keen to tie him down beyond the summer of 2020.
However, it’s understood both parties have been unable to reach an agreement yet with negotiations at a delicate stage.

I'm not sure that it's the right move for Nathan, he has Luton in second place in League one with a fantastic momentum whereas Stoke are stuck in the Doldrums.

I imagine financially it’s incomparable. I bet Stoke have tripled his salary minimum and managers don’t earn anywhere near as much as the players, on the whole.

Career-wise, I reckon that he will look at this and say Stoke if it goes well will give him a shot at the big time, whereas Luton even though now might be doing well and he could get them promoted, are always going to be battlers in L1/Champ.

I think James Collins could be a decent signing for them

Are they 4 of the 6 he wanted though?

From how quick they have come in, you'd assume so!

He was never one to hang around was he. From memory he liked to get his shopping done early in the window.

    Lambert's early business:

Collins: A 35 year old CB who has been without a club since June. Signed until the summer.
Dawkins: 31, without a club since February. Championship goal record of 9 in 74 appearances. Signed until the summer.
Quaner: A better signing? Only played 37 minutes of football this season, hasn't scored a goal since April 2017. On loan.
Keane: Managed one goal in 17/18, of a grand total of 5 scored at this level across his whole career. He's 26. On loan.
Elder: Seemed to impress as Wigan won the title in League One last season, so this might be a reasonable signing. On loan.
Donacien: Signed permanently for £750k apparently after an initial loan - presumably the fee was agreed in the summer as he's yet to appear for Lambert. Contracted for another 18 months.

There was talk that Lambert would be backed in the January window, to give Ipswich a fighting chance. Yet of his 6 signings so far, I can only see Elder and Quaner attracting interest from any other championship sides. Additionally, Lambert hasn't spent a penny on transfer fees yet, and Lambert doesn't appear to want the only new signing contracted beyond the summer. So even if those 5 other players do make a difference, Lambert has to rebuild in the summer regardless of the league they're in.

Obviously there's 20 days of the window to go, and deals with free agents/loanees are much easier to agree, so this might not be the picture at the end of the window. But based on that, Lambert must have had very low expectations when he wrote his wishlist.
