Ha. I was talking with a Southampton-supporting work mate just today about the perils of highlight-reel videos!
Some nonsense flashed up https://www.londonworld.com/sport/football/qpr/qpr-ps135m-windfall-tottenham-transfer-twist-5002251 Seems Spurs want Eze
Assuming it happens, does that go directly to the men who've been losing £1m per month or on improving the squad?
EDB out on loan... Elijah Dixon-Bonner has joined Swedish second-tier side Västerås SK on loan from QPR until 8 July. Dixon-Bonner, 24, was signed in October 2022 after leaving Liverpool. He was previously at Arsenal. He has made 28 Championship appearances for Rangers, mostly as a substitute. He impressed towards the end of last season and was therefore given a new contract in the summer. But he has found himself down the pecking order, making just three league appearances this season – all of them as a late substitute. The Swedish campaign runs from late March to the middle of November. Västerås SK were relegated from the top flight last season.
Strange timing considering all our injuries to midfield players and apparent loss of form to the ones still playing.
Quite staggering that he could only get in this struggling QPR team due to the prolific Celar getting injured. I honestly don't think Marti would have used him otherwise. I wonder how many other bright prospects will **** off knowing the likes of Anderson, Celar, Madsen, Colback and co get selected ahead of them.
Maybe Marti saw on an everyday basis what Celar put in...and what Kolli put in...and made a decision Let's just say I am still staggeringly pleased with the 2 million we got for Armstrong
Maybe Beth. Then Kolli got his chance and scored the same amount goals in half a game that Celar did in 20 odd games.
QPR captain Cook set for new contract By David McIntyre 13/04/2025 QPR captain Steve Cook is set to sign a new contract. Cook, who will turn 34 on Saturday, is approaching the end of his current contract, having signed a two-year deal when he joined the club during the summer of 2023. A new contract was largely dependent on Rangers not being relegated from the Championship. Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Bristol City took them to the 50-point mark generally regarded as enough for clubs to avoid the drop. With four matches of the season remaining, they are eight points clear of Cardiff City, who occupy the final relegation place, and have a vastly superior goal difference. They are therefore virtually safe, paving the way for Cook to extend his stay at Loftus Road. He is currently out with a foot injury he initially suffered against Preston in December. Cook has made 33 appearances this season and 69 in total since arriving in west London from Nottingham Forest.
That's mad, if true. He was said to be our highest paid player and was pretty poor after coming back from injury. He'll have been offered much less than before but even so this seems daft to me. We're OK for CBs without Cook.
I suffer from the same foot ailment, and despite relentless exercises for it , it still recurs frequently. Since he suffered from it originally , he's had at least 2 more bouts of it and I can't see it stopping going forward. It's a bastard to have, cos when it hits you literally can't walk without collapsing to the ground in agony. I appreciate what Cooky did for us in his first season, but going forward I can't think this is a good move. Hope to be proved wrong, but can't see it.
Stroller we are not OK for CBs without Cook at all We have Morrison ( great player)....and then Edwards (going back to Southampton), JCS (injured constantly), Dunne ( no contract signed), Fox (need I say more, although he has not been a liability recently). Come 1st of August we may only have one good CD (and he spent half the season injured too) I understand resigning Cook ...as club captain and a bench warmer, but who will no doubt play about a third of the season. Still leaves us with only 1 starting CD
Cookie's attitude and influence is a big plus to have around so many young players being earmarked for our squad. Sometimes what happens off the pitch can be as important as on the pitch. Provided it's not a silly financial deal I think his presence is worth keeping on board...
