If I were to tell you there is a strong rumour that we are going to make 2 big name signings between now and the end of August, it would be ridiculed, as everyone knows rumours never come to anything.
Bearing that in mind:- there is a very strong rumour that we WON'T be signing any big name players between now and the end of August.

Been lots of speculation this week that we could be signing Gabriel Zakuani from Northampton. He's currently away with the Democratic Republic of Congo International team where he's vice captain. Plenty of experience at this level and could do us a job.
 
Not another defender!
What about midfield? we need a defensive midfield to protect the back line, a midfield enforcer to win the ball back, a creative midfield to supply the forward pass, how can Cody score without the service.
Cody! oh my god! what if he's missing? who's going to score the goals if he's injured? we need more strikers, but it's no good scoring a goal if the opposition score twice as many.
We need more defenders, why isn't Ade signing more defenders?

grumpygit - If you're not sure, you could take all of them - ALL of them ! ( please forgive me - I'm trying to reach the depths of stupidity that I have encountered from others -- by the dozens, in the last two weeks )
 
So Cody out and Eaves in. Looking at the stats Eaves doesn't really score that many, but with his height he should be able to create opportunities for a decent poacher - someone a bit like Cody.

Is the jigsaw actually getting any clearer?

Exactly what I thought. Cody will / has, scored loads when he 'feeds off' a target man. Eaves is probably the sort of striker that we needed to help McDonald ---He'll now get all the help he needs from Tom Elliott . He won every header against us at Wimbledon last season - when they made us look stupid ( none more so than Donnelly ).


.......... perhaps we might be reverting to the style of play when Dack was scoring 'for fun ' and maybe with Josh Wright adding quite a few, Eaves might be able to create goals for an attack minded midfield ----- oh well, I can dream !
