Cambridge cannot sign the player they want to replace him so the have closed the door on Gaffney joining the Rovers
Cambridge say a deal was never struck with Rovers. Hear their manager discuss the Gaffney situation today. However 2 mins 43 seconds in he says he wont rule out a sale though.
If anyone was to ask me my immediate reaction, having listened to that interview, it would be that Derry is very, very careful to say the right (political) thing. I would guess that Gaffney aint too happy about Cambridge hanging on to him and has told 'em so! ...........but nobody's asking...........
I reckon we'll sign him. No club needs a player who doesn't want to be with them and reading the subtext it appears that Gaffney wants to come to us. We didn't pay a fee for Lawrence so we should have a bit in the kitty to sign Rory - at least I hope so. There's a few weeks left and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he's a Gashead by the end of the month.
