By that logic why would anyone be interested in Redmond, Brady or Klose?

Gudmundsson had 6 goals and 12 assists as a winger in a relegated team last season. Josh Murphy got 5 and 9 respectively from more games and is ironically probably the most comparable player in terms of position and being relegated from the championship. Gudmundsson also has 16 goals and 16 assists over the last two seasons, so it wasn't a one-off season. At 25 he's a reasonable age too. Charlton having been relegated also means he's more likely to be available and at a reasonable fee, so easier to sign too.

For me the concern is now that we still haven't signed anyone. Rumours abound but no end result. I yhought lets wait for the window to open, give it some time after, but a week in and nothing. I am starting to get that feeling of deja-vu.
A number of Our competitors in the coming season have already made deals happen, in some instances with players we were reputedly interested. Another summer of failure in the transfer market and I will feel very pessimistic for the season ahead. All of that said, no rumours about Klose so far and that like I've always said, would be the best bit of business we could do.
Come on AN DS et al. Pull your fingers out!

    Bah!

Russell Martin has declared himself fit to captain the side from his best position as centre back and on the verge of signing a 3 year extension.
    Yay <laugh>

Did he really say that? Thought it was the managers job to decide that. Give the captaincy to Klose I'd say (hoping he'll stay).

Looks like our highly paid team of headhunters failed to sign the Icelandic guy and even though Liverpool have accepted the money we are dragging this one out too.
Friday is press conference day at C R.
If we don't sign anyone by then it's back to looking at rumours.

It's just KIO's totally negative view on everything Norwich City. Always the same, always easy to ignore. ;)

I see Rob Green has signed for Leeds after his release from QPR.

KIO just MIGHT be happy if and when Delia, Michael and their son are no longer on the NCFC Board. I'd like to hear an update on where we are as regarding a new CEO and I have to say that I agree with KIO on that.
I can see where he's coming from and I'm sure he's very aware of the fact that without their money and input, then there would be no NCFC in existence. Unfortunately, until we get new owners, they'll always be around and whilst I would love to get some serious money pumped into our club, I'm also very much aware of what has happened at Portsmouth, Koo Pee Arr, Blackburn, LUFC etc, etc.

Edit - I know the 'Norwich way' is only to announce new signings when their photo appears holding up their Canaries top, but I'm getting increasingly worried that other teams who'll be vying for promotion are strengthening and all we seem to be doing is 'building for the future!!!'
We need to be spending some SERIOUS money NOW, so that the new players can join in the pre season training and so become accustomed to playing with their teammates and not arrive just before the transfer window slams shut. <ok>

I think that's frustrating for all of us, Braveheart, but there may be a reason for it. I think being linked with other players is also frustrating when AN says that 2/3rds of these were never true. The Canos situation is particularly strange, given that we reportedly had a bid accepted for him but remember how long it took to sign Mulumbu on a free last summer. That's especially frustrating as Gudmundsson is now seemingly heading to Burnley. Perhaps the eventual departure of Brady will open the floodgates once AN knows how big his budget really is.

So early in the morning for such profound, and insightful, thoughts Braveheart. But I can only fully agree with you. The good news? Well there seems to be no interest in Klose so far. Long may it continue. Russ Martin CANNOT be captain next season. Make him club skipper, but Klose should be team captain. We desperately need a leader on the pitch, and Russ is not that man.

Thanks for the comments RER and GE.
Just been reading the EDP website and could this be the season that Odjidja makes a name for himself????
That's more like it - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ham_weigh_up_12m_robbie_brady_swoop_1_4606384. £15M anyone - I'd love to see a bidding war for his services!!!! Trouble, the Board will say that it is all going in the transfer fund, but my money says that AN will only see a fraction of it to buy a replacement!!!!

People clearly have unrealistic ideas about how long it can take to fe these deals done. At this pin tin the summer there is no rush so both side are presumably negotiating, these are hard contracts not just basic employment bit image rights, different scenarios based on the outcome of he season etc. Then a lawyer has to draw everything up and they do there dance where they send it back an forth racking up the billable hours (don't you Rob :emoticon-0105-wink:) then there has to be a medical and all the time a separate deal has to be done with liverpools lawyers, who I bet don't see a 19 year olds move as a massive priority. Yes they can do it quickly when it matters but right now no one is motivated to.
