Mea culpa, I should have made it clearer, it was Robin Sainty who brought it to my attention! <ok>

You have a duty to tell us if you're going to simultaneously dwell in parallel universes, Dave! <laugh>

So Fletcher, another aging Scot, on a freebie i think it is reasonable business, I would be a little concerned if we were to give him a long contract on those sort of wages. Further rumour of Canos too, another youngun and I think a good move. I think he is a good champ level player with potential to do a job in the PL.

    Bah!

Would Canos and Clough not be like signing two young Hoolahans? Don't we need a CB, a Striker and a right winger first and foremost?

£12m for Brady would be good... but then you've to add a left winger to the list above!

Johann Berg Gudmundsson is one we have been linked with... I think he would be as good as Brady at Champ level.

The Irish spent half the Euros chanting about how they dream of a team of Wes Hoolahan's, perhaps Neil is trying to bring that to fruition? We could have a front 4 of Hoolahan, Maddison, Canos and Clough! Liquid football!

And if we do lose Klose, and persist with Bassong and Martin, there'll be goals 'flowing' in at t'other end to keep the theme going! ;)

Turner to Charlton? Not sure we'd miss Tina and it would be good to free up his wages for other signings.

    Bah!

I thought we just took up an option on his contract, but happy to see him leave.

If it came down to it I'd rather have him than 'taxi doors' Fletcher. Window not even open yet, bags of time to get somebody better than both of them <ok>

Ok, so it looks like about £23m coming our way through the sale of Brady and Redmond (less claw backs etc.) As far as I can see we have lined up: Fletcher, Canos, Clough and a Reading lad? Although it has been stated more times than I can remember that we need to learn lessons from the lack of strong recruitment in the past it looks like we are going down the 'cheap' route once more. Fletcher is a free agent, but I am not impressed with him as a striker and with Lafferty probably going we will be down to CJ and possibly Fletcher. Can't see a immediate return to Prem with these two up front. Mbokani is a different story, but there hasn't been any suggestion that he is a target for NCFC. As with many others, I am not filled with great confidence at the moment, but there are many supporters on this site who may have a different and well reasoned view.

I suspect any movement there will be late on. I can see one of the Murphy's starting the season making an impact off the bench, perhaps progressing into a starting role, but we're unlikely to have both in the same match-day squad, short of them outperforming all expectations. Once some inbound business has been sorted, it wouldn't surprise me to see Jacob get a 6-month loan to the lower reaches of the championship to prove himself in this league. We can reassess in January.
