Because we were told to expect an announcement this week.

I'm not sure we have Marv. Certainly I've not seen that from the EFL and I don't think I've seen it from the club. I think there was an assumption from the press we'd have an instant decision.

If you look at the decisions they release, based on the submission, made that's not done on the same day:-

Annoyingly I can't find what date the Oxford appeal was and on what date the announcement was made.

I might be splitting hairs here but there’s the key word of “public” announcement. The club may already know the outcome of the appeal and will be conducting business accordingly while the window remains open. That is to say; working on permanent signings for now or Jan if we’ve been successful AND/OR working on more free/loan signings to satisfy the start of the season and beyond if we’re unsuccessful. The only people that could be held responsible for wasting time would be the club as they should be working on the basis of a successful appeal whilst also planning for a more negative outcome.

I can't imagine EFL would be too keen if we signed someone for money today, to go straight into tomorrow's squad, and they hadn't formally announce that we could do that

Yes I saw that on the EFL site. What I was looking for was the date of the appeal hearing and the date of the announcement. I couldn't see it in the document you shared or on their local newspapers site.

Looks like they were given notice on the 12th, gave notice on the 14th (of June) and the document is dated 21st of June. Why it was so much quicker I'm not sure, possibly as it was before the transfer window opened?

It also states no further penalty required or appropriate as they were fined the 3,500 and been under an embargo since the 7th as it was. A whole fortnight. We've been under this fee restriction for 6 weeks!

The club statement announcing the outcome was on the 27th of June

So perhaps we can expect one on Tuesday or Wednesday next week?

That’s not what I meant. More that, if the club know the outcome already (likely as they can manage the PR side of things that way) they can either work on deals for money or not depending on what they already know. Also, as tone deaf as Acun can be at times, I doubt he’d announce a cash signing before the news of the embargo being lifted had been confirmed.

There was only one person sitting on the efl side against oxford but three on our panel maybe that is why it was quicker

I really can't understand why some people are thinking that the EFL will make a decision, tell the club, then not immediately announce it publicly? Doesn't make any sense.

I agree it's a nonsense scenario.

The are reviewing the appeal and there will be an announcement once they've made their decision.

Like many things City related we need a bit of patience.

Quite possible you are right - but who broke the news?

Was it the EFL or the Club? From what I remember it was the media picking up on it then running with it - there wasn't some big announcement from the EFL and it took a while for their list of shame to be updated.

The Club knew first and sat on the info.
