Have you ever played football? or any contact team sport?

I was called everything under the sun and had handbags every game.

Just get on with it.

Er, yes. Funnily enough I can hang **** on the opposition and cop it back without needing to refer to their race, religion, sexual orientation or any other descriminatory factor. I usually just call them slow ****s as I sprint off past them or slate them for a **** touch.

I once got sent off while playing for uni for headbutting somebody that called me a ****ing f*****. Just so happened he wasn't an opposition player but was in fact our left back and it wasn't the first time he'd used homophobic slurs towards his team mates (I was the only non-straight player AFAIK).

He was a worm but at least he apologised. I stopped playing for the team before that and went to Oadby Town instead.

If the club has a policy of clearing one outstanding debt per club per day before the owner speaks to the local press expect to hear from him some time in late August. I don't think it will turn out to be as bad as many fear.

MAGA - Make Acun Great Again

I do find it a bit odd that they seem to find money to pay both Villa and Man City when pushed, and have not paid, which in football related term are relatively small amounts to local suppliers.

It's as if the instruction is not to pay until absolutely necessary. Has this been the company policy? I do know companies that operate such ways, they pay in the end, but not until they are pressurized.

The sanctioning mechanism for non-payment of footballing dues is far quicker to be implemented. Non-footballing debts will be months in court.

From the EFL website:
What is a Fee Restriction?
A Fee Restriction is applied to a Club should they default on payments for a period of 30 days or more the 12-month period starting on 1 July each year and ending on 30 June the following year (Regulation 52.6).

This includes payments due to any other Club in respect of transfer fees, compensation fees and loan fees, as examples.

This can refer to one default of 30 days, or a number of individual defaults which when taken together amount to 30 days.

The total number of days in default is reset on 1 July each year. A Fee Restriction is often referred to as the 30-day rule.

If a Club is found to be in breach, then the Club will be unable to pay or commit to pay any transfer fee, compensation fee, loan fee, or any other form of payment when registering any player from the date of the breach until it expires at the conclusion of three full transfer windows.

This means that if a Club breaches the 30-day rule during a transfer window, their Fee Restriction will cover the remainder of that transfer window plus the three full transfer windows that follow.

I’m aware of the rule, it’s just rarely enforced for a single breach, especially if both clubs owe each other money.

The EFL are concerned about far more than just one payment to Villa, but that incident was a clear breach that allowed them to act and add sanctions. The other issues are less clear cut and don’t have a directly enforceable penalty.

Well we got there in the end.

how long do these appeals take?
we talking days, weeks, months
any chance at all its going to get lifted so we can buy somebody this window?

On the radio last night they said we have 14 days to appeal, then the EFL will swiftly put together an independent panel to deal with it. So don't think it will be too long after the 14 days.

They also said that we were hoping to get it down to a one window restriction, and that it was unlikely it would be lifted altogether. So no transfer fees this summer as a best case scenario by the sounds of it.

Can you back all this up?

I think we have enough in defence if we get a left-back on loan but that’s about it. Our midfield is a mess as we might not be able to register Puerta and Laalaoui, Alzate looks likely to leave, Zambrano isn’t signing and wasn’t available until November anyway and Matazo has an ACL injury and is out until December at the earliest.
