probably naivitey on my part but i always thought a benfit of a big club loaning out their players was they got first team experience, and off the clubs wage bill for a bit.
i knew loan fees existed but always assumed they were minimal, like 150k, i had no idea they went into the millions.
seems mental to me, but most of modern football does so nothing new there <laugh>
I’ve quoted it before but Roy Keane tells the story
He wanted Jonny Evan’s at Sunderland
Evans was on ten grand a week at Man U
Man U charged a million quid loan fee
And Evan asked for twenty grand a week!! And got it
Roy went mad at him and he went Roy I read your book and you said know your worth and ask for the max!! <laugh>
So that was probably fifteen years ago!!

The theory is we're now in the 2 day window to rectify things as per the EFL embargo guide. How the process works in terms on temporary embargo, real embargo, two day window - although it's a little vague on the sire. Unless the temp embargo included the two day window but that would mean it would have been Weds/Thur that we would have been listed on the EFL site (we aren't currently).

I think we've still got a couple of days for this really to play out.

I believe we were informed of the provisional embargo on Monday afternoon, and we submitted documentation and appealed then, but they applied the sanction effective from today anyway. So your timeline needs to start on Monday.

Weirdly people at the club are very calm about it and very confident it'll be sorted without much fuss.

Hopefully they know a lot more than we do about it to have this attitude! lol

Interesting to hear. We live in hope. I hope you're right, we move forward and the club (Acun) learn some lessons.

Interesting that Smailes' suggest even in the best case we have an embargo this window but are keen to get the fee punishment lifted. If so I imagine we'll try and get players out the door and then 'staff up' via loans with obligations (always end well), that aligns with the Frigan reports last night. It's the double punishment that will hold us back this year. If you remove the embargo but keep the fee punishment at least we could sign free agents.

We need a smaller squad anyway but would need players out sharpish.

That's what I'm saying. Notice on Monday. Two day window. Wednesday (latest Thursday) we should be up on the EFL listing. But we're not. The temporary embargo looks to be separate to the two business day window (48 hours as per Smailes). I think the club think they can get this all sorted before we get properly listed on Monday/Tuesday. Today being the first business day and Monday the second.

If the lawyers are any good, they should be arguing for a points deduction in lieu of any fee restriction windows and use Sheffield United’s case last year as precedent.

I get that and I was thinking to myself earlier on...Where are all these Journalists keen to comment yesterday, that they knew about this before it became public knowledge? Some even suggesting it was worse than initial reports.!

One of two things here, they either know nothing or they're busy digging the dirt to add to the situation...I personally feel that the owner should be addressing the fans concerns directly and either admitting we're in a bit of bother or stating it's a proverbial storm in a tea cup?

Even if it actually was a storm in a teacup he’d already been tried and found a total fraud.

Said it all along and I’m so happy to be proved right and everyone else can finally see it.

Acun OUT

Think you're probably putting too much stock in when their website is updated. The club have confirmed it anyway.

That's not to say there isn't scope for it to be reduced or removed if we can prove financial stability. But I assume there'd need to be some sort of EFL oversight for that to happen.
