What doesn't make sense about the EFL imposing a 3 window transfer embargo ?

We can sell, we just can't purchase players for a fee (permanent or loan fee).
Right cheers…so the title of the ban is misleading it’s not a transfer embargo its a buying embargo
The simple fact is that some enterprises, football club or otherwise is owed money by City, and whilst an agreement to pay is in place, City have failed to maintain payments. Do we have a monumental problem in the background, or is it simply a short term cash flow issue, none of us know so sit tight and lets see what Acun has to say by way of a formal statement.
At face value, the club believe it was sortable this week and submitted an update and/or appeal to The EFL which they've rejected. Either Acun sticks his hand in his pocket (again) to resolve the problem, or The Brain Team manage to raise some funds from player sales, or both!
Certainly the club needs to put a statement out today, without which I will be more concerned then I am now.

The return of Ehab? Consider the timeline of the Allam involvement.
Paid a quid for the club, with a debt of 24 million that needed immediate payment. Then other stuff came to light. No great worries, the Allamhouse accounts were there for all to see. Worth 300 million ish.
Steve Bruce appointed and we return to the promised land.
Relegation. With the debt at something like 100 million. But, joyous news - the parachute payments are an equivalent amount. City received more for being relegated than the champions (Man U?) received the previous year.

Ehab knew how much he had to play with and cut costs accordingly. The secondary effect of the prize money increase was the inflated valuation of transfer fees. Bowen and Grosicki.
We have gone from very transparent finances, to smoke and mirrors. Oh, yes, did I mention kiddie in sweetshop? The transfer policy under Acun.
Be careful what you wish for? And, I cannot believe this, but as each new deflating bit of news breaks, I find myself thinking the Allams were not that bad after all.

I think Ryan Reynolds is incredibly wealthy. He co-owned a mobile service provider for $1.25bn and took $300m. he sold his gin brand for $600m. He makes $30-40m per film and his films have grossed $6.5bn. His profile alone allows him access to much bigger pots of money too so if you think of the income he can generate for Wrexham so he doesn’t have to put in his own cash - the united airlines deal alone is worth $6m a season. That’s before you look at all the other links. Wrexham’s 23/24 shirt reveal had something like 55m views on YouTube.

Even if all ends up fine, like the late wages in May, the fact that it got this far doesn't reflect well on the club, and this can be the sort of thing that pushes a prospective signing, such as McBurnie, to choose another club instead.

Probably not the laughing stock of the football league, penniless, unable to sign anyone even without an embargo because nobody wants to come here, nobody can trust the crook running us, and about to tumble down the divisions into non league and go out of business anyway.
That’s if we can even put out a starting 11 after all the players leave by September.

Which is,in essence,what I'm saying? A statement needs to be made to either to clear this up,deny it or state his intentions going forward.
I'm not overly concerned either to be honest(it's happened and the truth will out eventually and nothing I can do or say changes any of it) but let's just say that there's no smoke without fire and I'm pretty certain that the EFL didn't just pull the Club's name out of a hat yesterday because they were bored.
As for selling players,that's been on the list ever since the last ball of last season was kicked...Bringing in new players might be a bigger problem now.
This whole thing is incredibly odd. From what others are saying (I haven't checked myself), we're not showing on the EFL's list of embargoed clubs - which was supposed to have been happening at midnight. No further articles from HDM, nothing on BBC - and most importantly nothing at all from the club.
I'm not saying that nothing is amiss, clearly everything is not fine. However, it definitely seems like this is more complicated than we've/Acun's just run out of money. The fact we've had nothing from the club suggests that there's lots going to try and persuade the EFL that the embargo is not warranted before making a statement.

Not just about the Barry/Villa situation, but finances in general - including the rumours of non payment of suppliers and other clubs.
