Early 70's they had sports stars every week competing against each other in different events top 2 i think went through then they had final at the end of the series it was a great programme, look it up and watch a few episodes.

Ah just looked it was David Vine and Ron Pickering hosting it weekly.

Genuinely asking not wanting to argue. In the same way the claims about being skint and having no money may not be true. How can you prove they’re not?

You're clinging to the idea that the club aren't skint based only on the owners say so - and not the mounting evidence the bills haven't been paid - but then he would have to say that to protect the creditworthiness of his parent media company now wouldn't he?

It's been well established that the club owes money all over the place - which the owner has tacitly admitted in his open letter.

So which is it? He's either run out of money or he's incompetent for having the money but not paying the bills?

Either way, 2 of the 4 of those statements are substantially true in the best case.

In the worst case he's both skint and incompetent, which he'd have to be by definition if he's running the club the way he has been without the funds to pay for it.

The claims started a couple of months ago. They weren't true then, as has been proven, just as they still aren't true.
Players weren't going to get paid, then hey presto, they were paid.
We've just paid what was owed to Villa and to Man City. Not insignificant sums.
As has been listed repeatedly on here, there's loads of stuff that's been done in the past few months that simply wouldn't have been done had we run out of money or were just about to run out of money. Not least bringing in Jak and his 3 assistants, then adding Dean Holden on top just for good measure.
That's hard, factual proof. Talk of being "skint" is not (it's unhelpful wild speculation & rumour).
    Agree?
Overdue suppliers will now get paid. Somethings been at fault, but it's not that we are (or more correctly, the owner is) 'skint'

Meanwhile in the real world, you were told there were financial headwinds and all was not well and you refused to believe it.

To the point of gleefully taking the piss out of those who were saying it and who are now proven correct.

And even after late payments of wages soon afterwards, followed by late payment of transfer installments leading to 2 embargoes and subsequently being subject to a 3 window fee restriction as punishment for not paying football creditors on time, it comes out that the club haven't been paying their other suppliers either.

Call me insane, but I'd think most rational folk would see that timeline of events as evidence of what you were told, but you're just too proud, stubborn, ignorant or just plainly in denial to accept it.

I'd stop digging if I were you. It's not a good look.

    Told of "Financial headwinds"?!!
    Don't rewrite history!
    We were told:
    - we're skint
    - the owner has lost interest
    - we're going bust
    - we're about to be sold
    - etc.
That's what me and others "refused to believe" ...... and rightly so. None of those claims were or are true.

I said I feared for administration if we were relegated and it would still be bad even if we survived.

I also said the owner couldn't afford to sell let alone lose interest.

    This has come to pass.

I don’t agree. The club is spending more on wages than it earns. Whilst this isn’t unusual for championship clubs it does create problems when the source of money coming in to bridge the gap is a problem.

For one reason or another that appears to be the case. None of us likely know the damage but I suspect the next set of accounts won’t make pretty reading.

The club itself is struggling and the EFL are asking for proof of sustainability. That’s as big a fact as any. Local suppliers have commented publicly they’re owed money. That’s either bad practice or bad cash flows. I suspect it’s a combo of both.

Acun has said repeatedly he is willing to bridge the gaps in the club. If that was the case then why hasn’t he done that to avoid EFL sanctions or even avoid coming close? It’s either a sign of severe cash flow issues be it club or owner or very bad practice.

The club spent more in transfer fees than it’s brought in. That’s a fact that would show towards potential cash flow issues. Top this with a top 10 wage bill with a bottom 10 revenue stream. We are running a very fine line.

Didn’t I read that at the Q and A only last week, he claimed the squad was worth £80m?
This Jacka fella must be a hell of a coach if he can improve our squad in less than a week.

Your question was about the claims we are skint. We aren't. Of course we might be at some future point (or might not be). But we weren't skint 2 months ago and we aren't now. Imo supported by enough evidence.

The only evidence you have for us not being skint is the owners say so, who has an obvious vested interest in saying so.

Yet failure to pay bills and getting an EFL sanction is not enough evidence for you huh?

Ah well, you can take a horse to water...

We have no idea. That’s my point. There’s plenty of evidence to suggest we are having cash flow issues. Acun is putting in money via a loan from Santander leveraged against Acun Medya. That doesn’t exactly show signs of a healthy cash flow within a football club

Acun admitted we’re behind on our payments to suppliers because we’re waiting on a transfer fee from another club. That means we don’t have enough liquidity to settle our debts on time. That means we’re skint and operating hand-to-mouth.
