Got the lyrics wrong there mate I believe they should be My name was Edward Ebenezer Jeremiah Brown Im a football supporter of Ipswich Town wherever they go, there Ill be I haven't missed a game since I was 3 with my scarf and my rattle and my big rosette singing where was the goalie when the ball went in the net follow(ing?) the Town Up or down Im Edward Ebenezer Jerimiah Brown but everybody calls me Ted. The vinyl version was something my parents had a copy of when I was young.
Yeah you're right TB it has been ages since I heard it. I hope we all sing it with some gusto on Saturday! Kempy deserves a great send off.
Gotta say top marks to your club for marking his passing. March on together chaps. Sing it loud, and do him proud! If it's not disrespectful can someone get it on YouTube.
Good comments from the Leeds contingent on here This guy we are talking about lived and breathed all things Town and it makes us incredibly proud that the club have responded by marking his tragic passing in this way.
I remember it being sung in the North Stand back in the 70s and I loved it but it eventually died out. Yes it is a song of it's time but it is unique to our club and instead of singing all the usual stuff I think it is time that we started singing something that is unique to Town but with a modern twist!
Thanks for the rep guys. It really wasn't necessary. I am sure I can speak for Elland as well as me when I say we just wanted to appreciate your thread and your clubs response. Have a good day in the circumstances. We will be marking the anniversary of the passing of Gary Speed this afternoon.
All the best with that glory hunter. A genuine nice guy and fantastic player. Another taken to soon. .
Elland rd and Glory hunter...thanks for venturing on here..and we wish you all a fine match today..and my condolences too for Speedy. Its always good to know that football is so much more than just the game and the results - passionate tho we all are! - its more about the people, the fans and the community that gives it large for their whole lives!
