Technically they were much better, but, you would have to expect that. Disappointed with a few who IMO haven't done their prospects that much good. On to next week...
We looked good when the changes were made, Coyle isn't going to get his place back with Christie in there, quality larker. Sinik looked lively, strayed offside a couple of times, but look a threat.
Much better in the second half - apart from one scare the defence were much more confident when playing the ball out. Also the introduction of Estupinan put their defenders under much more pressure.
Baz said Mcloughlin played well especially with the ball at his feet. Was this the case. And how did LaTula look.
The keeper looks assured with the ball at his feet (other than one sketchy interplay form the back) but in tow games I haven't seen him have to make a save. I wonder if any of the opposition in the two matches might be winding their way too us come January.
I'm sure McLoughlin would be in the regular side if he wasn't left-footed. It will be interesting to see if Liam is as fussy about 2 centre-backs being different-footed.
I think being left-footed does make it harder for him, but he's also the weakest of our four centre backs and that's the main reason he doesn't play.
McLoughlin is better on the ball than Figgy, but Figgy is better in the air I would say. Figgy worries me as playing out from the back, he seems to dither on the ball and is liable to lose it.
I'd say the same is true of McLoughlin. He looks tidy at times when under no pressure, but he made a couple of big mistakes on the ball leading to goals last season, just as Figuereido has done this season.
Absolute howler from Jones yesterday. Probably only Greaves looks nearest to comfortable (if only he could cut out his shirt grabbing and wrestling). Be interesting to see what happens in January.
Thing is, we're not going to be facing teams as good as Trabzonspor every week. If the likes of Jones and Greaves could nullify them completely, they'd be gone in January.
