We need to find out the name of the lad to settle this. Fast forward five years and he's getting 20+ goals a season in the first team. In the Prem.
Liverpool have some very good players, they'll have chances and it'll be a hell of an effort if we get through this tie.
Quite often it's the decision making that's let Liverpool down so far. So many times they are taking an extra touch or passing sideways and letting our defence off the hook.
Shame the lads couldn't get a win today but it was an entertaining match to watch and competitive from both teams. A great experience for everyone involved. Well done
our right wing back was brilliant. aside from the goal he scored he seemed the stand out player for us on what was a really good performance. I don't know where these guys are from, I imagine they're a bunch of lads from Suffolk? That Liverpool side had players they'd paid money for from Germany and Poland and we weren't a million miles away from them. I hope we get a Cat 1 academy soon...that old can of worms huh?!?
Some of them have come a long way. Ireland, Zimbabwe, Indonesia. Credit to the youth coaches, a lot of promising talent.
I have to say, after watching the game, other than our goal scorer, i don't think we had any players that really caught my eye. We had a fantastic "team" and work ethic, but no one really shone. The guy up front didn't do anything, our so-called "gold dust" Baggott at the back looked a bit clumsy and hoofed it anywhere a lot of the times. I wasn't overly impressed (ok, so we played one of the best youth teams in the country). Actually, the only player that looked comfortable, and could possibly step up soon was Liam Gibbs... I'm trying not to be too negative, as the team worked their socks off and have produced some excellent results this season, so i suppose we worked well as a team, which is all we can ask for t this stage of their careers
Most players are not flair players and much like the first team the only area where we didn’t stand out was in attack. I definitely wouldn’t criticise the defenders because there were an awful lot of outstanding tackles and unlike the first team nobody was going to ground under a lot of pressure. Our ‘keeper performed far better than theirs. If you’d watched Roy Keane or Tony Adams as U18s I’m not sure they’d have caught the eye either.
