Town players:
Jayson Leutwiler
Jermaine Grandison, Mickey Demetriou, Mark Ellis, Nathaniel Knight-Percival
James Caton, James Wesolowski, Connor Goldson, Ashley Vincent
James Collins, Scott Vernon
Subs: Craig Durran, Mark Halstead, Liam Lawrence, Jean-Loius Akpa Akpro, Jordan Clark, Akwasi Asante, Andy Robinson, Dom Smith, Ben Burton, Josh Ginelly, Cameron Gayle
A welcome return to the meadow with a squad we hardly recognised and numbers that didn't natch up with the programme. Some very positive moments in the firsg half with it ending in a Collins goal. Defense looked fairly good bar a couple of sleepy moments, Leutwiler came out for a ball and flumoxed it, thankfully no one from chesterfield filled the box to take control of it. Caton looked a real handful on the wing and Wesolowski was solid in cm spotting danger as it was developing. Goldson was played as a cm midfielder too.
Second half brought on many a new player including Halstead, Lawrence, Akpa Akpro, Asante, and Gayle. closely followed by Robinson, Curran (listed as Durran but classic STFC trick), Jordan Clark. Goldson was moved into defense. Town seemed to be playing more solidly and the ball was being in the opposition half more. Asante and Akpa-Akpro were linking up well with Robinson providing some hight quality accurate passes and dead ball passes. Curran and Clark also seemed to be doung well. Although not fast Robinson showed some real quality and is a tricky player to defend against, also provided many long/short passes that gave the attackers opportunities.
Looking forward to my next friendly, Watford, ans to the start of the season. Hope we can sign some of the trialist, especially Asante.
