All you get from leon who is in control of the midfield is sideways passing and backwards passing with nothing going forward.......We have been well beaten every time he plays and has the job of direction......Sorry he has past his sell by date and must not play his type of football or we will lose every match he is in.......We need KI or cork to run the engine room and not old school leon....
He's defensive midfielder what do you expect, anyway I see him often moving the ball forward if he can, you have just written him off, that's your problem Dai, he can still do a job, and Monk would not have brought him on if he didn't think so either.............
He is not good enough now......he needs to move on or retire and go into coaching.....We have looked awful in every game he has played in and we cant go on using him......Legend he is but he is not right for us now and needs to move on......Cork or Ki every time and never leon.....
I doubt it.....Every time he has played we have been beaten and played our worst football....You have to face facts that he is a liability now......results show this clearly....Your just being sentimental and cant see the facts ......
So your blaming Saturday's lost on Leon? We were 3-0 down when he came on and contributed more in that 10mins than Cork did.
Look at every game he has been involved with this season and you will see it corresponds with our worst performances and defeats........Forget about the fantastic 10 years he has given and look at today and today we are a more intense team that is more going forward at a faster pace.....sadly when Leon is in charge he slows things down by neat passing and keeping the ball but mostly sideways and backwards. That is not our game anymore and gomis and anyone up front really is twiddling their thumbs not getting the ball.....If we keep playing him we wont win many games if any and all the good work of strengthening the team will go out the window. The tika tacka is no longer effective and that's all Leon and a few others know how to play.....
Dai I can't work out your logic in saying "every game he has been involved with this season and you will see it corresponds with our worst performances and defeats" Well he played 4mins against Newcastle we won that one. 90mins against York we won that game. 90mins against Hull we lost that game and 10mins against Southampton and we lost that game. Now considering we had a makeshift team against Hull you can't lay the blame firmly Leon for this loss. We were 3-0 down to Southampton before Leon came on so he had no influence of that loss. He wasn't near the pitch against Watford which many say was our worst performance of the season, I missed this game but reading the comments we were crap. His passing for his 10min cameo on Saturday was not backwards and side to side, but passing with a purpose it was quick incisive passing to get our attacks away with greater speed, and I should know as I was there. I'd shove him in for Sunday, I also wonder how many on here would as well??
Definitely play him , we're quicker moving the ball forward, he breaks up the play and has an unerring talent for being in the right place at the right time.How any thinks he still can't contribute to the team beats me.
Our problem is not picking Ki imo. Our midfield should be Ki and Cork with either Jonjo or Gylfi in front. Atm with the new system, I'd play Jonjo as the current formation is killing Gylfi . I'd like to see leon play alongside Ki too. Our passing is much faster aand crisper when he's on the pitch. For me he's still the best we have at doing that.
If you want to talk logic then why was leon dropped and hardly played last season and why are we losing with not a single goal (except Penalty) to our name.......Logic you want to talk logic .....Leon is past his best and every time we start with him controlling the midfield we struggle big time to score.....Thats the logic and not the sentimental claptrap your saying on here....Leon was dropped for a reason and we brought in others and the only reason he is playing now is because he stayed instead of going and monk is sticking to his promise of game time........If you cant see how bad we are going forward with Leon then your blind.....Leon is no better than 3 or 4th down the pecking order and as we are dropping down the table because we cant score then the logic says he must be replaced to get back on track.......that's the logic of the situation.......
A couple of points before I break down in tears of laughter he's in the squad because it's squad game and he's good enough to be in it . has it occurred to you that players have dips in form, that's when the Manager earns his money by rotating when necessary . The only reason he's playing now is because he stayed , do you really believe that ? Do you actually know what position Britton plays in ? He was out of he team Dai because he was injured (also suggested he had an extended period away due to marital/family issues by some on here). We then went and bought Cork in January and Ki has been awesome. Yes, Leon is past his best (no shame in that) otherwise he'd walk into our team even at 50% fit. However, he,imo, is still a top quality player and imo still the best in the PL doing what he does. As others have mentioned already he also reads the game as good as anyone I've watched as he always springs up in positions to nullify threats not to mention covers the fullbacks when they push on. Quite frankly, I'd start Leon at the weekend alongside Ki.
He was dropped and thats why he threatened to leave ...FACT He Was dropped because he was not as good as others..FACT... If We continue to use Leon instead of better then we will continue our slide towards relegation. FACT I am right like always and you are not ...the biggest FACT of them all........Watch this space and look and learn........Leon is a Legend but after 10 or more years we have moved up a level and we have far better in the squad...FACT...
