It'll take a bit of time for him to get up to speed, I think. He's gone from not having a pre-season with Fulham to playing two games a week at Spurs. Hopefully he'll get into the swing of things a little more as his fitness improves.
wasnt a dig at you at all TMT...was mocking those that look for anything to have a pop at AVB...you know the same ones who will be praying we dont manage our first clean sheet of the season today. the same ones that will overlook the fact that AVB has helped us achieve our second best start to a PL season.
did you just see AVB sat there rubbing his hands and tapping his feet...was like a fat kid in a sweet shop..get in AVB.
See now that Sigrudsson one for me is a penalty. They never get given but he's 'megged him and tried to go past but the defender's got 2 hands on him and is stopping him moving.
Fairly easy 2-0 win after a slightly sloppy first half, made that much easier by Bennett's unfortunate injury. Hope it's only a minor thing and he's back after the international break, as he was probably Villa's best player. Villas-Boas' decision to put Lloris in has been vindicated with our first clean sheet in the league and we're back above the filth and into 5th place. I'm happy with that, so far.
5th in the PL and we haven't reached full steam yet. The best positive from this match is the clean sheet. I am all for Lloris starting because we have to look to the future and he's our man. Where are the forwards? Defoe is again proving inconsistent so now for me it's Ade to start. 2-0? Good but not good enough.
I think we're still trying to find the right combination upfront, as Dempsey linked up superb with Defoe agaisnt QPR, but overall has been hit and miss, while Siggy seems to struggle, so we have to find the best partnership for the CAM/Striker.
14 points from 7 games - the magical 2 points per game average is restored. This time last season we had 13 points from 7... 1 point better off in comparison
Pleased with the result, again we didn't really try to exert enough control on the game. The early games with 2 dms had plenty of flaws but I don't see why we don't try to keep the ball like we did then. Slightly displeased with a couple of players only looking to score once they went down to 10 men and we were taking too many wayward long shots in general but maybe I'm nitpicking a bit. Great to see Adebayor back he's different class. As well as Defoe's done Ade plays the role so much more intelligently, drifting into channels and bringing a level of calm to our play. I know it was a walk in the park once they went down to 10 men but his play reminded me of what he did all last season. Sandro, man of the match for me. Lennon second choice.
Just one point more after 7 matches this season than last but it has huge significance. We have a new coach and players and have lost two of our best so that one point more is a bloody good achievement. Yes Boss,i think you're right,I can't add to that.
We haven't marched any further after today have we? Or have we? Can't remember. We were 5th on Saturday morning and still 5th.
Yes, we moved above the mighty West Brom. Goals: Enjoy them while they're still up.
Yes but were 5th Saturday morning and we're still 5th after the weekend's matches. Anyway PNP,what do you thing West Ham will do now after losing so heavily? We had a little would they won't they get promoted last season and you just won it by a point or two. I think they'll drop down a bit now.
Yeah, you're right. I got it into my head that they dropped points, for some reason. West Ham will probably finish off about 13th, I think. That'll do them nicely, though any poor run will see their fans turn on Allardyce, due to his style of football.
