Tottenham sign a striker and a defender

I know you Gooners like statistics and these are Bale's this season - Goals 10, Assists 7 - no surprises that these have improved now he is playing further forward and he's got a higher quality striker (Adebayor) to cross too. I think that is the point of Saha - a reasonably like-for-like replacement for Adebayor at a knock-down price: looks a good bit of business to me.

 

Bassong wasn't good enough and disruptive and Pav was just disruptive, both were just for cover with combined wages circa 130 k per week. Plus 8 to ten million for Pav who is depreciating all the time.

Saha and Nelson. Both free, Neither will complain about not being in the starting lineup so will be there for cover or last 10 or 15 minutes. Combined wages probably 40 to 50 k / week plus a decent bonus if Spurs finish in the top 4.

Bit of a no brainer, £8-10M, save 80k per week, and get rid of troublemakers. As they say in black jack, a happy school always wins.

 

I saw Saha score 2 goals and thought of this thread. What a great bit of business from Harry....

 

Based on today's game I reluctantly agree. Still plenty of time to prove it was a mistake though

 

Saha is a great player when fit. If Spurs can keep him fit they have added one of the top 5 strikers in the league.

Bale has 8 assists, according to the Premier League site, which puts him joint 3rd or 4th in the league.
