I can only go by your comments, and to me they read like you don't understand Dempsey's game. If you think you do, fair enough. I don't think you do, otherwise you wouldn't be complaining about us buying him, because his versatility is exactly what we need, and he is an upgrade on VDv in terms of what we need ATM. VDV can't cover as a lone striker, Dempsey can. Dempsey is better wide in a front 3 than VDV, and so though I love Rafa, I'm absolutely delighted we've got in Clint..

Fair enough TMT, I don't. Loris is a marquee signing for me - Captain of France and rated by many as one of the best in the woorld, that's not just marquee it's a country estate :azn:

What's more it was desperately needed, Brad is on the decline, we now have a keeper who can last for years and years.

Front page updated, no doubt for the final time, to show Dempsey's signing.

No Moutinho :( - Modric sized hole in our midfield now.

Now off to bed to process all the ins and outs!

SSN are reporting that we are still doing business. Could be Moutinho, could be Hudd.

We're on Levy time now as opposed to Fergie time!
Deadline what deadline- its deadline when Levy's finished.

If we have tried that I can't see it working again. I think we did something similar a few years ago with the FA. Something about a malfunctioning fax machine <laugh>

I'm sure Arsenal did a similar thing with Arshavin a few years back.

I hear that there are complications because of some kind of shared ownership situation.

It's reassuring that they has applied for the extension. Obviously Levy is confident that they can conclude.

    Fingers crossed.

BBC are saying Moutinho isn't even in the country, or he wasn't an hour and a half ago, he was in the Algarve ahead of a game with Porto. Flight delay?

Roo, what Modric hole? we won't be playing like that anymore, we won't miss him in that sense. That team has been ripped up and we're starting again. If we have a front 3 of Bale, Ade and Dempsey, 2 of the next 3 will be DM types, so i think we might see Dembele as our playmaker. Modric role...but different. :)

I wish I could agree but Moutinho is AVB's choice to do a job that he wants done having worked with him before. Modric would have done the job, hence AVB wanting him at Chelsea.

We will miss a creative deep lying playmaker. If not, why would we try to sign him in the first place?

I'm reassured to some degree because we have Dembele who can go some way towards filling the gap, even though he's a different type of player.

    sad news re Moutinho

but what a line up we have anyway

    Loris

    Walker JV Dawson BAE

    Dembele Sandro

    Dempsey Siggy Bale

    Ade

subs defoe lennon gallas naughton caulker friedel livermore

    I've probably forgotten someone

but outside the current Big 3, surely the strongest current 18

with parker kaboul hudd to come back and townsend waiting in the 'wings'
