  2. Totally fair point re: Sig - didn't realise the gtg ratio was that high. Really excited to get Dembele and although not like-for-like he may well provide enough of Mods talents - and something different!!

Hi Relayer - fair enough - we disagree. To me Loris is a marquee signing, he'll be the highest status player at the club if we get him, along with Bale. Apart from Gareth, I can't think of another of our players who's amongst the world's best in his position.

Keeper is absolute priority, has been all summer for me, anyone can surely see how Brad is not the answer and will cost us vital points this season, whereas I'm hopeful Loris will gain us vital points.

I agree a striker is vital too, which is why I'd be happy with Dempsey, and am more concerned about him than Moutinho.

I've said all summer we need two strikers and a keeper as a priority, it's looking like we've got Ade and Loris, we get Dempsey I'm happy with our dealings.

I'm sad about VDV, but siggy is his natural replacement. Dembele can replace Modric albeit in a different way, that'll do me.

And I'm happy with VDV as a King replacement, and Caulker staying, not going out on some stupid loan.

Yeah - what I meant was no judgement of Loris. It's just hard to get excited about signing a goalkeeper when I can't see where the goals for our team are going to come. And it's not like we need to replace Gomes.

Hope we sign Lloris, makes the user name more valuable :)

Will be pissed if we end up with Dempsey as our Modric replacement.

I don't think we need one.

Fair enough LP, I'm massively excited about Lloris, he's an absolute marquee signing for me.

If we don't score enough, then keeping them out is even more important. a goal less comceded in our first two games and instead of relegation form we're looking at CL form, margins are that tight.

But yes I want another striker, have wanted two all summer.

If we don't get in, thn it will be a poor window.

Dempsey isn't our Modric replacement, that's Dembele or maybe Moutinho.

    Dempsey is Saha/Vdv's replacement.

watching Falcao on the tellybox is depressing. Why is he at Atletico for crying out loud? They are nothing special without him

Good article Boss, what a signing it is for us. As the French are saying/implying he's really out of our league, and for us to get him is an incredible coup.

I'm sure he is happy living in Madrid, earning a great wage and idoloised by fans, also look at Cavani, he could have left napoli after they sold their stars but he signed a contract, two of the best strikers in the world staying with the smaller clubs.

What has made me laugh all summer is the idea touted by some, including some 'ITKs', that one of the world's greatest strikers might come to us, and a South American, more attuned to Spanish life than North London, ridiculous. Tell you what though, getting Loris while not at that level, is about as close as we're likely to get to buy 'world best' quality, ATM.

Must admit if we sign Lloris, we're getting a truly world class keeper, a keeper that any team in the world would be happy to have between the sticks so am surprised we're the only club trying to do this deal, especially the price mentioned.

i've not watched it all, but its a bit like the CL final at the moment, but with the correct result (at the moment).

So Boss, can napoli and atletico pay considerably more than us? Am i bigging Spurs up too much to suggest that all those clubs are of a similar stature (sort of 2nd tier in their respective leagues). So how come they can happily keep players of the calibre of Cavani and attract and keep Falcao (although he did just miss an open goal, lol) and we have our best players (Modric and Berbatov in recent seasons) going on strike because they can't get out quick enough?

If we're really lucky, we'll have a genuinely good starting lineup and alarmingly little depth everywhere except DM. If we're not lucky, we'll have a good but not great lineup and no depth.

Lucky meaning signing Lloris and Moutinho? In my opinion that would only leave us short of a winger and a striker. Everywhere else apart from left back we'd have very strong cover and even at left back we've got 3 that can play there/
